Crystal Heart in Chapter 2 (Old Site) - am I on the right track?

Hi all. Picked this up in a sale on Switch and enjoying it very much. I'm on the hunt for the Chapter 2 Crystal Heart, and I'd like to get confirmation I'm doing the right thing without looking up the actual answer.

Spoilers for Chapter 2 ahead!



In the "awake" realm I can see the heart and the poem. I assume this means I need to find the same location in the "dream" realm. My guess is that I need to find a way outside and on to the top of the castle, but I can't see any way through in the room with the wall that looks breakable but isn't, or the non-chasing bonus room above it.

I'm therefore working on trying to get on the outer wall of the castle near the start of the chapter (after activating the space jam and returning to the screen next to the starting screen). I'd hoped that I could dash left through the jam, do an exit jump (thanks B-side for teaching me that!) and dash upwards to grab a wall, but that hasn't got me anywhere yet.

I don't want to know what the answer actually is if I have it wrong, but I'd love to hear if I'm on the right lines. Am I on the right screen for this? Does it involve me being cleverer/better with the space jam? Or do I need to think again? Thanks in advance!

You're on the right track area wise. There is a berry near the very beginning of chapter 3 that might give you a hint.

Ha, I can't get that berry either! In both cases I could do it with an extra dash, but I don't see a way to reset. I'll keep plugging away!

You're in the right place. One key that your missing is:

Your dash recharges when you transition between screens. This lets you do some creative things and get more height.

Thanks smeredith. I finally figured out the strawberry in chapter 3 (my last one! Had to start it again and play around for a while) and I hit upon the right technique. If I ever finish the chapter 3 B-side, I'll get back for that heart. Thanks everyone!

In my most recent playthrough I found a way to get that chapter 3 berry without that trick- via another trick taught in 7B.

In 3A you can also use the same tech to get a key and skip a very minor platforming sequence.

For those of you glued to your screens wondering if I got the heart: I got it. Felt like a superhero doing it too! Thanks for the nudges, everyone. (Chapter 4 heart was awesome too! Super clever, but probably frustrating for people who didn't spend hours and hours in front of their TV in 1991 after learning of the existence of a certain game when they spotted it in Woolworths and pestered their parents to buy it.)
