I don't want to disrespect people and say they're untalented. But it really seems like Towerfall was just a fluke. I mean it only gained fame since it was the only game that was playable on the Ouya. Not for its gameplay, as it too was an unoriginal game, copying other recent games at the time like Samurai Gunn for example. I hope their 3rd game does something unique. But for now, it's a big no. I would only recommend it if you were really starving for a new release. But even then, the games I listed above are far better alternatives.
( Btw comparing Iconoclasts to this game is just silly. Good game having fun with it, but... you just cant compare ).
That said, i subjectively liked Celeste, played through it in assist mode to experience all of it, but i also started playing without that, and got pretty far by my own merit, which is a nice feeling.
I love the game because I love platformers, and this is a very good platformer. There is a lot of variety in multiple aspects of this game, and none of it feels superficial. New mechanics are introduced with each level (a total of 8 lengthy levels, each with 3 unique difficulty variants), and the game pushes these to their limits, ending with some seriously challenging but satisfying guantlets of challenge for the player to overcome. The soundtrack rarely gets stale and honestly is extremely motivating when tackling harder levels. The visuals are adorable and beautiful, and each area has a very distinct feel to it thematically and gameplay wise.
Honestly, I'm not sure how you'd like this game if you don't like precision platformers. Most of the fun for me was had in the post game content, where the game really picks up in terms of difficulty. Had I just played the game until the story ended, it would be very short, kind of hard but not too bad, and probably just an okay experience. The post game is where the limits are pushed, where the best of the soundtrack is heard, and where the player is truly tested, but I just don't know if you're interested in that kind of game. Maybe this could be the game to hook you, that's for you to decide
