Both this and Ori are tough but fair. Though this is a way more challenging. Dying 50 times on a section is actually normal, the games trying to get you to learn the strategy. You could easily die 1000's of times through the story.
I'd reccomend trying it and if its too tough there is actually an Assist Mode where you can modify the difficulty a lot
Each section is about a screen in size, with 5-15 jumps of varying difficulty (ranging from easy to very hard).
I think I did pretty well in the game, and I had to attempt some maneuvers 15-25 times.
There is also all the optional stuff, which is WAY harder.
Now, all that being said, the game features an "easy" mode (called Assisted mode). I havn't tried it myself, but from what I gathered, you could toggle all sorts of "cheats", such as extra air-jumps, infinite wall-climb timer and so on.
It requires a certain self discipline if you want to use that, but you could totally do that, and still experience the entire game.
The story, however, is rather "meh" in my opinion. But you might be able to find a level of difficulty that suits you. :)
