The game's good, but its not great.
- Lotus (I played on my switch)
The only really shameful thing is negative reviews based on gamergate nonsense. That BS can go ahead and die off already.
I'm actually serious about that question. I honestly want to know why it affects you so much, or even a little for that matter. I truly don't understand why anyone would care. Even if this game had 12% Positive reviews, does it alter your experience with the game? There's absolutely no reason why it should.
She doesn't fail man, she succeed by dealing with her fears instead of running away from them, and she "levels up". Are you sure it wasn't your reading of the story that was surface level? lol
And same goes for you, me or anyone, this is a very subjective thing. Personally, C-sides are my favorite levels in the game. Not only I find them just as fun and creative as the rest, I find that they are the ones who take each chapter mechanic to its fullest potential (ex: ch.2 dream blocks exit jump and exit grab moves or ch.5 moving platforms that can propel you far away with tons of momentum).
My only regret is that they are only 3 screen of each.. I would love to have more of Matt Thorson delicious level design with C-sides chapters just as long as their A or B counterparts, tho it would make golden strawberries challenges for those almost impossible. Can't have everything! Fingers crossed for a level editor!
What I did not say, though.
The game has received such largely positive reception that any kind of negative review someone would post would have probably 0 likes and look idiotic on a person's profile, not to say all the comments constantly trying to prove why the person is wrong. To me this is because people have gained a personal touch to the game on an emotional level, which is perfectly understandable. If "randem" would pop in out of nowhere and say the story falls flat or the gameplay is less about crossing your boundaries and more about button memorization in an unfairly designed level then you know what is going to happen.
The sense of accomplishment, the love and sympathy for the characters, the feeling of achievement all of that would have to collapse if you were to agree that this game is not perfect. Because if such reaction from you was caused by a mediocre platformer with a sneaky plot tapping into a market with high demand for stories about depressed people then he would also prove to you that your gamer sense is wrong and your standards are extremely low. Some people had just called revolutionary, given it a title of a masterpiece and if they were now to call it all off and say that this game has flaws like many other games, and/or say that "yeah sure game is cool but you can disagree" then they would no longer sound honest would they? If they could just throw such big statements and then retreat immiediately as soon as someone disagrees with them.
You don't simply get back down from sugh high of a point. So you have to expand upon your opinion and explain to everyone why the thing they call a flaw is actually a good thing, and only if someone were to make a one hour "bulletproff logic" essay, hbomberguy standard, giving proper reasoning and arguments why there are elements of the game that are flawed (which I personally think don't exist) then and only then people could agree with you! Othewise you'll be (my opinion) truthfully (satan's advocate) or untruthfully bombarded.
I hope this cleans up what the hell do I actually mean, honestly I'm so tired of people misinterpreting my texts. But I guess that's what happens if you mostly talk in vague, unoffensive and disembodied language.
"Game is good, and if you disagree you'll need atleast an essay to prove your point, or else if I'll admit that this game can be disliked on a single notion of you feeling diffrently about its mechanics then that would mean that the only reason why I like this game so much is because it is pandering to the group of people such as me. So whenever I let someone say this game is bad because he feels like it and he can't really justify it in any logical manner I am basically incosistent with my opinion."
Simple as that.
Thanks! I actually did play Jumper 1 more than 10 years ago and remember having a great time with it back in a day where Super Meat Boy wasn't even a thing. Now, I just picked Jumper 1,2,3 and Redux, looking forward to try them :)
