That and IIRC the developer is also from Vancouver, so an obscure landmark close by makes sense.

Ok, but how many people do you think have actually climbed the mountain? Like, the actual real-life mountain?
This is great.
As well, I did find a photo of the peak. The site I found it hosted on seems to make it known that it's scalable but no record of anyone actually trying it. According to the map the peak sits at around 2100m.

That and the fact that you'll find Canadian flags in chapter 4, as well as the hints being on postcards with Canada stamps on them.
There's probably a load of peaks named Mt. Celeste in the world, but this is the most likely reference due to:
1. The game being set in Canada
2. Theo being from Seattle
3. Matt Thorson being from Vancouver.
