Clarification about Crystal Hearts

I just beat chapter 7 for the first time and now I want to know how to obtain Crystal Hearts. I suppose that you get one from beating each B-Side, and there is also a Crystal Heart hidden in every level... is this correct or are there others?

I don't want informations on how to get the specific Crystals, but only a confirmation of my theory.

Crystal hearts are hidden in the regular levels, you get red hearts for completing B-sides.

One type is in crystal and in A-sides. The other type is red and in B-sides. That's literally the only difference. :D

All of them are good and/or required for Chapter 8 ?

IIRC you need 4 for Chapter 8 A-Side. 15 for Chapter 8 B-Side and 23 for Chapter 8 C-Side. I could be off on C-Side required hearts, never counted.

There are 24 crystal hearts in the game. 1 of each color (3) per chapter, blue, red, yellow. Blue is hidden somewhere in the A-Side. Red is completing B-Side. Yellow is completing C-Side.

and yeah C-sides, this game is impossible to 100% (for me at least)

It took me pretty much a year to 100% Super Meat Boy (not counting the unholy Iron Man achievements), so I'm confident that with persistence and eventually pausing and then resuming the game again I can beat even the C sides! Or maybe not, and I will acknowledge defeat lol

100% requires no deathing every level, C-Sides included. If you die, you start from the beginning.

ROTFL definitely not aiming for 100% then. But I'd still like to collect every strawberry and completing every level if I can.

The C-Sides are very difficult but the nice part is that they're all very short. Honestly, completing the no-death challenge is harder in the B-Side, simply because those require you to practice way more levels.

Indeed, A-Side may actually be surprisingly the most difficult to no death because of the sheer length of the chapters and how the most intense parts are at the end of them.
