Why are the graphics so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful?
I mean if you're gonna do "pixel art" at least have a talented artist like say Sonic Mania or Shovel Knight, this game just looks ultra low-budget, like the devs didn't have a proper graphics artist on the payroll.

Celeste is made on C++ and XNA
Caveblazers is made on game maker

But even then i think celeste looks pretty nice

The artstyle is based off of matt's previous game TowerFall Ascension
and the pixel art is quite nice and not as detailed because is doesn't need to be

At first I was like "whoa so nice and beautiful menu and backgrond scene" but then... "fkin pixels"
Ruined half a game for me... this pixel sht is even lags sometimes

Let's say it's not a bait, answer on topic: the pixel art in this game is actually great. It does not mean it'll fit your tastes but it's great. I find it gorgeous. There's "art" in "pixel art", it'll resonate differently for every individual.

Personally, I think they did a fantastic job of making the pixel art actually feel alive. They were never as stiff as actual 8-bit pixel art from the NES days felt like. When a character looked around, you could tell that, rather than seeing a bunch of pixels shifting.

What they "lack" in art, they make up for with interactivity. When the player character is hanging off a ledge, there are separate sprites for when she's hugging a wall with all four limbs and when her legs are dangling. When standing on a corner, the leg pixels change too. Besides, this is a game where you're constantly on the move. I wouldn't want fancy-pants high-res graphics that make my computer lag while rendering it, which would make the platforming even harder than it already is. For instance, the part of the level with the wind and the snowballs would be impossible with lag. More detailed graphics would also greatly increase the price tag of this game, and I'd have second thoughts about buying it if it were more expensive. Also, they did have a proper graphics artist on the payroll; you can easily see the color coordination during the Summit chapter, and how the characters contrast with each other. For each section of that chapter, every type of hazard has its own color scheme that contrasts with the player and complements its surroundings. Some of the hazards are animated too, which you can't expect out of a game from the 80s.

Anyway gameplay is so good that I can forgive graphics

They seem average to me for pixel graphics, certainly not overworld in undertale level of bad graphics

Not everygame needs amazing graphics, and it would look out of place with 16bit style or something, the background is amazing and the charactors are well animated with less graphics, its a style and a good style at that.
