Anyone feel like the game needs a map?
I bought the game for the Switch last night and I couldn't put it down, the movement in this game is perfect and I'm loving the story so far.

My one complaint is the strawberries that require a little more exploration. I've always been a big Metriodvania fan so I'm used to looking through cracks for breakable blocks, but in Celeste it feels a little at odds with the core design. The game is at its best when you're flying through challenges, and going the extra mile to get the strawberries in the icing on the cake for me.

But then theres the times where I enter a room with 3 branching paths, and after taking one I realize its the path to the end and suddenly I'm gated from the other two. I know its to make the game's replay value go up, but I always feel a little cheated, which is the exact opposite of how I wanna feel when I'm exploring. I know I could restart and go through the other paths, but thats time wasted to me.

Basically, all I'm saying is a map would be really nice, that or limit the amount of doors closing or platforms that you can't drop from. I can't believe I'm saying it, but some backtracking would be a godsend.

While the one way paths are annoying, each map has a bunch of checkpoints and tells you which strawberries are missing. And after collecting those last couple you can simply exit the level. So a map really isn't all that needed.

When you've beaten a level, next time you go back in you can pause to get a little checklist of strawberries. Blue dot = one you've gotten, dash = one you're missing, and red dot = collected during that session. They're mostly in order from left to right, so if you're picking up strawberries you've already collected, you'll get an idea of how close you are to the ones you're missing.
