Is "double dash" a mechanic?

I still playing the main story, but I noticed that if you dash to one level to another you can dash again, is that a mechanic used on B-side or something like that, because one of the flying strawberries I catched on Chapter 4 I just could do that way but in other levels I didn't see the need to do this, most because just don't help in anything or is impossible to do the same trick.

Yes, certain secrets/collectibles do require that you notice this mechanic.

Specifically, one of the Crystal Hearts requires that you find a place to exploit this mechanic in order to reach it. Anywhere else, you won't get much use out of it.

Aside from the heart where it's required, several berries and keys (like the first key in chapter 3) are easier to get using this mechanic. A few areas are easier to reach in chapter 7 by crossing a screen transition to get both dashes back. It's also an essential part of speedrunning.
