SPEEDRUN Friendly ?

hey ! wanna ask you a question. I think that Celeste will be my new speedrun. For the few minutes that i saw and also try hard the web game. It can be a really really good speedrun.
As you know, in speedrun, we dont like long cinematics and waiting moments. If there is long cinematics, it would be great for skipping them. Also, is there RNG in Celeste ?
Last question, is there a timer inside the game ?

Yes, we tried to make the game as speedrun-friendly as we could:
- all cutscenes are skippable
- we tried our best to eliminate all RNG
- there is an in-game timer, and an in-game journal that tracks your progress & best times.

That's cool. I'd also like to say that having zero RNG can potentially make it stale to speedrun. Having some RNG makes it exciting to keep going even if you're behind your PB. That being said, its certainly better than a run-ruining RNG level or something like that!

Regarding RNG in speedrunning, we agree that it isn't as simple as "RNG is bad" - there are different kinds of RNG that affect speedrunning differently, and sometimes it can be exciting or add something to the game. For Celeste however, speedrunning mostly boils down to movement and execution with an incredibly high skill ceiling. We experimented with different forms of RNG, but for Celeste it all felt frustrating, and we decided it was better to avoid it altogether :)

Most of the time, RNG detroy speedrun. But yeah,there is a lot of kind of RNG. Games like Binding of isaac, rng is the base of the gameplay. So if you want speedrun a game like this, thats your choice. But a just skilled game like i think its Celeste without RNG in my opinion, is better.
