All EA games are buggy, thats the nature of the game in EA.
I believe for most, if you like Empyrion, you will like Planet Nomads.
Its not dozens of planets, its one highly detailed planet, so far.
Its more of a mechanical game and will take you much longer to build large structures than it does in Empy, Planet Nomads boasts wheels over Empy, and they work really good in Planet Nomads, the machines you can build is quite incredible in PN with rotors and hinge joints, so if your into building machines you will seriously love it, and the electrical grid can be broken down just like a real power grid and you wire everything up.
If you have a spare 30 bucks or if its on sale grab it and take a look, survival is fun but seriously lacks mid game but you should get 50 to 100 hours out of survival still in current form, I know we are loud in other threads about survival, but that doesnt take away from what survival is already in the game, which is designed well so far, you will find PNs biomes as pretty as they come.
My vote is to buy it and give it a shot.
As for the question whats better, again its relative, to what you preffer.
This game is better AND worse than Empyrion. I have played both. Empyrion has more building blocks and the survival aspect is WAY better. Planet Nomad has much better graphics and the physics are more realistic and a much bigger part of the game (Empyrion's physics are kinda a joke).
Both games can be purchased fairly cheap (especially on sale) and they both have their own thing to offer. If you're getting bored with Empyrion try this out. I got bored with this and now I'm getting into Empyrion.
You answered your own questions.
Yes.
The level of construction detail in Planet Nomads when it comes to vehicles and the promise of powered hinges and rotors later on means far more could potentially be done with vehicles and even structures in this game than in Empyrion. Huge powered doors and even roller shutters could be possible as well as walkers and other wonderful craft. One player (BCP) already has a youtube page of crazy inventions and quite ingenious tricks just using what we already have available.
Hopefully, leaving the planet and travelling among the stars will also come to PN in the not-to-distant future. At that point, unless Empyrion devs buck up their ideas, PN could well take the lead as one of the better voxel based space games.
I can tell you the glories of building, I can speak of the Monkey attacks. I can point out the inconsistent Physics and Mechanics. BuTTT I love this game.
You do what ever you want with your money. My Money was well spent. I think I got it on sale
and am a Happy "FAN Boy" look up meaning.
K
Highly opinionated dirge. I disagree 100%.
I find planet Nomads to be the better game in every way. Empyrion imho follows the usual expected route for this *genre* and in doing so is highly predictable and offers very little that is unique.
"Dead a month after release? dead on release?" utter nonsense.
"complete garbage with nothing to do" utter nonsense.
You only have to look at the screenshots page to see the creativity and imagination going on here in response to the game's unique blend of physics and open-ended environment, exploration and building mechanics.
Planet Nomads offers an experience like no other game, and is infinitely more engaging and immersive than Empyrion.
The only problem at this time is the lack of sensors (break beam and proximity), logic circuits and powered hinges and rotors. Building a crazy invention is one thing, controlling it is an entirely different problem. Sensors and Logic circuits would allow sequential actions and powered hinges and rotors would allow a lot more constructions that are self powered.
Ie: Powered hinges and rotors would allow walkers, sensors and logic circuits would provide a means to implement timings for each of the leg movements so you need only press forward and hold it to go forward.
Hopefully both of these are in the not-to-distant future.
i dont know when but i know CB is planning on adding things like powered blocks and pistons and what not
and possibly keybindings or cockpit control
