How about some tips on big air blades
Its weird, I can build huge complex ships but a big airblade just confounds the heck out of me. I"ve only been able to build one aircraft and it uses the small blades. It seems the setup is so different for the large air blades I just wound up rage quitting after 2 hours of no progress. Is anyone else having trouble setting them up or should I just stick to my watercraft??

If you keep the Center of Lift above the Center of Mass, you should be fine.

The rest are just minor adjustments.

Oh its not lift, its getting steering and no matter what I do it wont go forwards or backwards. It bounces right up when I get in, but I just cant go anywhere. lol

Wait, you do know about the steering settings inside the radial menu of all airblades right? The ones labeled "Change direction" and "Set to steering"? I assume since you made a functional small airblade craft you know about this, but you might have just forgotten.

This is pretty much I uses a vertical blade for and its not even an aircraft, sadly because it is using the vertical blades the controls aint conventional.

It could the blades are placed in the wrong direction.

@ Scytales: Yes I do know about them and they are what confuses me the most. I dunno, I just cant seem to get it right on this craft. I'd be willing to bet $20 I just have a setting or two wrong, but figuring out which drives me bonkers.

@ Aieonae: all the little arrows are pointing down on the blade bodies, although that does make me wonder the possibilities in making a goofy kind of craft as in how different placements would affect things.

@ Erdenstern: I was thinking the same thing, I'm confounded and would at least like to see it fly once, so when I do get back in game shortly I'll upload it in hopes one of you fine fella's can repair my horrid control issues.

I probably shouldn't have been goofing around with anything new to me since I've been sick the last few days, and when my disabilities kick in all together I do actually become dumber. On really super sick days I have pondered a simple light switch, not being able to comprehend if the light is really on or off, and if I should interact with it. It's kind of like taking way too many sleeping pills then forcing yourself to stay awake and drinking loads of coffee.

Oh well, so far today I'm feeling somewhat ok so I'm hoping to get some real life stuff done like a few cars needing repair and maybe even mow the lawn...lol

Thank you all, this community is one of the features that makes PN so great!

Just like Erdenstern, I volunteer to check on your craft if you need any help. I've seen your work and it would be a shame if those extremely pretty ships don't have scout aircraft to accompany them.

I thank you kindly, I'm about to get on and uplaod it. It's supposed to be a flying freight box while trying to keep it looking as much like the real life V-22 Osprey as much as possible. :)

File has been uploaded but please only load in creative mode. I made the mistake of working on this in my shipyard which now the game insists on including. Sorry guys, I know not to do that again.

From the problem described, it may be that there aren't enough large blades to control movement for the weight of what you've built. Why would I know about that one...😜

That could be as well, everytime I've tried with large air blades I wind up just giving up. Maybe I am expecting too much of them?

The large blades are very stable and useful for large crafts, but yes they do have limits. If your blade settings are OK, and the craft isn't somehow anchored to the ground (via block set into the soil or platform), then it may just be that you need more blades. I'm sure you'll get some answers from someone building your blueprint which is an excellent diagnosis tool.

Sounds like it needs some additional tail-section large air-blades to make it turn. All the blades should be set to forward/rev movement, but it you don't have sufficient quantity of them at the rear to aid in turning, all you will do is strafe sideways instead of turning.

If you use stabilized airblades there are chances it might be installed airblade inverted the arrows always points down in a stabilized blade regardless if it is facing up.(last check this issue is still around)

And there is also the small airblade in the front on the right that is corrupt. It's the one that steers in the opposite side compare to the 3 other ones when you go forward or backward. You need to replace it.

Perhaps its the ghost airblades working here again XD
