Best recipe tree to follow starting out?
Any recommendations as to which recipes one should learn first? There are so many to choose from. What would you recommend when starting new?

Thanks

I guess after 3 hours my answer is not needed anymore and you discovered all recipes meantime. :)

If not, go ahead and try to build whatever is needed to unlock the recipes. Sometime you have to build items you do not need immediately so you can simply deconstruct them after the recipe was unlocked to retrieve the materials.

They plan to rework the recipe tree and how we unlock them.

My current routine when starting a new game is to build everything I can and immediately deconstruct until I can't unlock anything anymore. It's gets the "can I build this" factor out of the way.

Many thanks that makes sense.

Currently there is no downside since reclaiming the blocks is lossless, but I would guess near release they'll be rebalancing construction costs and reclamation amounts so that there is a cost (other than convenience) to building and reclaiming a 3d printer as needed (and stowing it's components in a vehicle, rather than carrying it's full mass around on it.)

Indeed, I was expecting this kind of loss too when I tried first to dismantle parts. This is what I check in all games, to see how much I loose and to know if it worth or not.
I wonder if this loss would make sense in Planet Nomads.
Parts of vehicles become damaged during use not when you go to the car repair shop... unless they want to charge you more for the service :steammocking:

even if I had half the build materials returned from scrapping I would be happy with that (assuming this is anything player built and not wreckage sites).

I think no-loss reclaiming is good for Early Access, takes the sting away when a glitch requires something be dismantled and rebuilt.

lol no doubt, I've had several moments of dismantling and it would've hurt in the short term, but since the auto-miner has become available it's not such a terrible loss if they balanced the build feature in such fashion. It's just mostly time lost in that case... but anyone without one built will suffer from mistakes or glitches lol

This is kinda what I do too. I restart after every update (you don't have to do that, I have a kind of OCD) and I just focus on Food, Meds, and Unlocking, until I have a nice amount of stuff to really start exploring the planet.
gotch Mar 10, 2018 @ 5:55am
meds, food and habitat is first for me,then once im in surplus personal needs its" unlocking by building",i have a small carpark filled up with allsorts of crap, stairs, blocks, etc etc,i havent deconstructed anything as id have to ponce about with storage etc and tbh everything will get used as n when anyway.
unless it disapears during a reload :(
