Hover pads... how the heck do they work?
So, I got fed up with weak wheels and decided to try the hover pads. First thing I noticed was absolutely no indication of which way to attach them. The intuitive option seems to be to place them as they first are oriented but, as I began to set up the control directions and all that, it became obvious that steering was tipping the hover pads in the wrong way and direction was moving right to left and so forth. So, I reconfigured and reattached them a different way, only to discover that, despite setting up the steering to be opposide from front to back and managing to get forward and backward leaning correctly, now the entire craft refuses to actually hover. in fact, no matter what I do with power or orientation, it won't rise off the ground. Set to hover, set to grounded, set with a direction or not, set to steering or not, doesn't matter in the slightest. I can't even get a wiggle out of it. I've got nothing left to try.

Configure them like they are wheels. "Roll forward", you'll have to test the right/left for turning. I've had mixed luck whether they both go left, right, opposites, etc. Set the two in the rear opposite the two in the front so you get a "spin" motion when turning for faster turns.

They are best on flat terrain - no good in the rough

if you look at the block inside the ring of the hover pad you will see one side had a slope, that slope need to be down. they also work best if attached to the sides not the front and back. to avoid rolling or tipping just spread your hover pads apart to create a wider stance. you made sure to have a switchboard attached to everything? you have enough power for the hover pads? they need 150 each. i have a video guide here if it helps

Put them on rockers and you'll find they can conquer just about any terrain:

I finally managed to get them to hover me last night, technically early in the morning, but getting them to move me properly is really messy. The vehicle wants to buck back every time I move forward, even on flat ground. I think I'm going to bag it and just make a giant quad copter. Still fiddling though. I like the hinging setup though.
