Anyone else having issues recording with OBS Studio?
Trying to record some gameplay and each time I add planet nomads to the game capture layer I get a black screen but the cursor is visible in the recording. Anyone know a way to fix this?

I had this issue as well and I ended up having to switch my video source over to a display capture instead of trying to capture the game itself. I've also had issues with audio artifacts in my commentary while the game is running but I've not yet been able to figure out how to fix that.

Thanks! I'll give that a go. I record commentary with audacity so I should hopefully be fine there :)

No problem and if you could please let me know if you end up having any audio issues or if Audacity solves that. The audio issue has been driving me crazy.

Same problem here. I'd like to make some vids on it but it can only be captured if I select display capture (which is NOT ideal and tends to have fps dips).

you can try switching the capture mode in the game capture settings from full screen to windowed app. i use Loilo to record its not too bad, fairly basic but does hage large file sizes

I tried, still doesn't recognize Planet Nomands, only way to get it to record in OBS is display capture. This happens with DayZ Standalone also, the user has to disable antialiasing to get it to record in OBS. I tred lots of different settings but just can't get it to record in OBS.

You can try turning multi adapter compatibility on and off. Also if you have nVidia geForce Experience try disabling sharing. Can also have problems with Razer Synapse if you have that. I have both so I have to use Loilo

Wondering how many Yotubers were put off by that... We'll see if there's something we can do about it on our end.

Records good with a paid version of FRAPS, I dont have issues recording it, doesnt drop bugger all FPS, I have FRAPS set to record to an SSD drive a seperate one thats just for recording.
FRAPS doesnt like mechanical hard drives.

Solution is: Set your game to windowed mode, add the game as Window Capture, and then turn your game (if you want) back to fullscreen again, the capture keeps working even if you close the game and start it again (although I had a weird problem that it tried to capture my steam window)

i think it tried to capture Steam because when you set it to capture as window capture you need to select PN from the dropdown list. Im going to check to see if this works for me. Working with 30GB can be a little slow LOL

ok i just tried your OBS solution with no luck. even in windowed it will not capture the screen and i think it may have to do with the game using a 59hz refresh rate instead on 60hz refresh rate. could be OBS doesnt want to recognize that 59hz
BCP Labs(YT) Aug 19, 2017 @ 1:39pm
so i have found out what is preventing OBS from capturing. i had hunch it had to do with the refresh rates on the resolutions available, most being 59hz including 1920x1080. the highest i have with 60hz is 1600x900 and obs is capturing it without a problem now. is there any reason some resolutions are set to 59hz and other at 60hz?

I too have issues with OBS. My guess is this is honestly putting off a LOT of youtubers and streamers. Also Still at this moment Planet Nomads is not in the Twitch games list. there is like a blank twitch Question mark that technically is Planet Nomads... but that's not good advertisement. We want to show your game off. we want to record in good quality and for free, OBS is the way to do it. Please fix this!

Edit: Sounds like the easy fix is just making what most people record at (1920X1080) to be 60hz....

makes sense. another idea is to have a dropdown to choose the refresh
