Would you consider a lower price? People keep saying it's not worth the asking price, but maybe it is neat.

I'd buy it, but not for $17 CAD.

Is it really just a bunch of 360 photos?
maplesyrupghost Sep 26, 2016 @ 12:02pm
Apparently.
MDuh Sep 26, 2016 @ 12:42pm
Lulwut, just photos? Not even a simulated playspace recreated by a bunch of 360 photos that you can walk in?
krs Sep 26, 2016 @ 12:54pm
Well, application contains three type of content. 360 Videos, 360 photos, and photogrammetry content that you can walk in. Using Right VIVE controller you can teleport within spaces and visit 1:1 reconstructed locations. Price is set at 15 Euros because we share part of profits with charity organizations. You can read more at project site http://www.chernobylvrproject.com.

The Farm 51 will donate a portion of sales to charities supporting victims of the disaster -- 10% of purchases at $19.99, 30% of purchases of $29.99, and 60% of purchases of $49.99.

$20 = You keep $18, they get $2
$30 = You keep $21, they get $9
$50 = You keep $20, they get $30

Looks like you are most get the lions share either way.

Thanks for reply. Do you plan to add new content in the future. If yes, then what kind of content it will be - 360 photos or realtime environments?
krs Sep 26, 2016 @ 1:23pm
Chernobyl exclusion Zone is changing rapidly ,we are documenting it before some part of it will be closed forever and changed irreversibly. Application will evolve and we plan to add both, 360 photos , and scanned places.

How many 360 photos have you taken so far? You actually went on location for these?

Not even close, we're legally not allowed to disclose the deal, but you can Google how much Steam takes from the sales, then we got taxes, then what's left for us is a WAY lower than your calc.

Yes, we've been several times in Chernobyl and Pripyat, we got hundreds of thousands of photos used for photogrammetry reconstruction of 3D models and plenty of spherical 360 photos.
Here's some link:

We keep going there because this year there will be massive changes in the zone and we need to catch some material before it becomes unavailable:

It's a mix of 3D environments and 3D photos / footage shot by drone. The Moscow Eye is pretty impressive.

You cannot "teleport". You just click to load X or Y level.
Nothing about the typical teleport of the VIVE.

I've seen only 360 video with a crappy resolution, not sure if it's a bug or whatever.
All the hype for this. Really disapointing!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of people do much better in Destinations on Steam, THAT is true 1:1 reconstructed locations. Only one or two place you can actually teleport into a VERY small radius. This is total crap and real disapointment!

Hello °•⎝👽⎠ ᒪOᑌᑎᗩ ⎝👽⎠•° have you visited abandoned school, top of Moscow eye, or flat? Content is quite diverse, but we picked up specific type of locations to reproduce them as photogrametric 3d enviroments in such a way that seemed to add to overall expierence of exploring the place that used to be so full of life. In my personal opinion the whole story we try to communicate is a testimony of life and how it is forced now to carry a burden of a catastrophy. It is quite different approach, that's why it needs some filling narration and photographical documentation.

And this is far from being the best location to visit IRL.

Several environment in Destinations are properly done and given a really good story about it.
The video are totally poor resolution too.

Not sure how having fully 1:1 in the entire game would be bad for the story. You can add audio to that, videos etc...

I feel the game was just made for a seated experience and rush a few level to be 1:1 just to release it on the VIVE but nothing major, just hugely game breaking

Hello °•⎝👽⎠ ᒪOᑌᑎᗩ ⎝👽⎠•° I understand that you don't like the way we put everything together, I got it and your opinion is valuable to us. I just wanted to point out that those were some design decisions we made in the process of creating the application, during all of our visits in Chernobyl, and thru all of the relationships we formed. The application is still in development and currently we're optimizing the application in order to be able to put there videos and photos in better resolution.

Some achievements need investigation like the 30 minutes and school exploration as well.
