Drain Rune....
Haven't found it yet and don't want to Dev console it. I saw the Dev YouTube vid and noticed it drained health from the enemy to replenish the Fictorum's. Is this implemented in the game yet?

Okay, just wanted to see for myself. After a trip to the Dev console, Drain's only possible usage is to pair up with Stamina I guess. Seems kinda lame, since lifesteal has been a staple of the Dark Arts forever. I wouldn't care if the drain percentage was super low, or that other balancing things could be done to offset it. There's really no other way to heal the protagonist other than through the story or finding those rare potion bottles. That video seemed so cool though. The way it was shown it was probably OP, but stuff can be done to limit that.

Thoughts? Mine are that this really good game has one perplexing little nugget that I don't understand (aside that I haven't found a sentinel rune yet).

You could use the rest button to heal.

Well, yes of course I could, assuming I wasn't choosing a really aggressive route that would maximize stuff but not leave a whole lot of free time.

I'm just kinda bummed that the coolest addition to the game (and completely fitting with the type of protagonist) got nerfed with (as far as I know) no explanation. The concept video is awesome.

Some spells are incompatible with Drain, but it should work with any standard projectile/area spell. It returns a portion of whatever resource was used to cast the spell (health, mana, stamina) back to you.

I have a fairly killer build right now that is mostly corruption based but uses a Meteor Storm (storm+Stamina+drain), Nefarium (Manifest, Chain Reaction and Pierce) and Eldritch Blast (Manifest+Stamina+Familiar). Any hit creates a Sentinel firing off Circle of Death/Pain (Wrath + Manifest obv) that can do in just about anything. It's cool launching a single Nafarium bolt into a fortress or mound of bad guys and starting the chaos that way, and by the time I've strolled into the fray with a dozen or more (basically free) familiars floating overhead half the bad guys are now gleefully killing off the good ones. Usually the fight is over in less than a minute or two. The meteor storm is great if in real trouble or the entire city needs to be razed at once.

Anyway, still loving the game. At high casting costs, blood would be straight up suicide, but at least Drain works for those that choose to use it that way. I'd prefer some rune, maybe a future construct since Drain has viability in ways I didn't realize, that just does life drain from straight damage. Not wanting to disrupt balancing, so it'd have to be a low % I guess.

Okay...upon further review...I took the same setup and bought a blood rune to make Eldritch Blast (Familiar, Blood and Drain). Tested after I'd sustained some damage (~80 or so) the previous map. Summoned six familiars, took a lot of damage, then ran through an entire army of outcasts. Healed to full. Crazy. Definitely looking at this one differently now.

That tactic is not repeatable at lower levels though.
