Just tried doing a run without shooting the dog (Spoilers)

Aaaand I still had freaky ♥♥♥♥ happen. First my mom's dead and on the ground, then I had to defend the TV screen. as soon as I was brought back to the living room at midnight and saw the flashlight and the fact that the gun can shoot IRL now, I noped out of there.

Is this all supposed to happen if I don't aggravate him? I was under the impression doing that would be a more forgiving experience so it *really* caught me off guard.

I did shoot him in the practice room, but I kinda figured that wouldn't affect my save.

At that point he stabs you in the face and you die in a puddle of your own blood. You quit just before that happened. I got this ending my first run, and did shoot the dog.

This was the worst-case scenario in my mind, I can't believe I got it in my first run lmao

Where did he come from? How long did it take? Were you able to defend yourself, and was it a jumpscare or did he slowly approach?

Sorry for all the questions -- This is the basically the first horror game I've ever played and doing it in VR doesn't help at all. I need all the deets if he's going to be right up at my face

Yeah, VR horror is a bit intense for me too, haha.

I've gotten 3 endings and have heard of a couple more:

Happy: Never shoot the dog. There's one spooky moment, with him outside, but that's it.

Police: Shoot the dog, pick up the phone when it appears near you, talk into it til she says that the police will be there. You'll get spooked one more time, but nothing major. Police show up and gg.

Nuke: Get a golden shotgun shell in the game, shoot the sun with it... The shell seems to randomly spawn in the box. I started a level, looked over, and there was a shiny shotgun shell that I loaded in (I dropped all the shells til I got to it) and shot the sun with it. Leads to a weird, but not scary, ending.

Death: Shoot the dog, proceed to play the game, get murdered outside of the game. Haven't done this one yet, too spooky.

Kill the Dog: Shoot the dog, proceed to play the game, then I guess you can kill the dog outside of the game?

I'm guessing that shooting the dog even in practice mode can trigger the bad endings... Might just have to brave through it at this point if you don't want to restart.

He comes out of the laundry or whatever the room is next to you. You see his eyes in the darkness, then he steps out of the shadow and walks towards you slowly. You can shoot him as much as you want but it does nothing .. then BAM! Knife in the face, camera zooms out, and you see yourself laying in a pool of your own blood. He then looks at you and waves. It was pretty intense lol.

I've got a video of this ending up on YT. You can watch it before it happens to you to prepare yourself lol.

Nevermind. THIS is the worst -case scenario.

Can anyone confirm if you're actually able to shoot the dog to keep him away or is that a red herring?
