I personally say 911 Operator is a great game and captures the job of 911 Operators amazingly! You can feel the intensity of moments and stresses and needs of the people who is calling for help and provides a challenge.
Every single 911 call is acted as well, so no real recordings of live 911 recordings are used in the game.
So how did I hear a "acted 911 call" several years ago?
Aren't there tons of games out there which contain real, unsympathetic events? For example Battlefield 1 is set during World War I. Enough people died during that war... and now we are having fun killing each other in Battlefield 1???
911 Operator is in a way a simulator, so please bear that in mind.
There is no form of disrespect in this game, played 4 hours and saw nothing that makes fun of those people.
You actually learn how to act in certain situations, this game does good at showing the basic procedures in case of emergency, it may not turn you in a medic but for sure you can learn one or two things on how to save a life, not bad since the majority of the games out there shows you the opposite.
I see nothing bad here.
The devs didn't use the actual recording - that would be a serious disrespect to the family involved, as well as inviting a lawsuit opportunity. I can't see a dev making that rookie mistake.
The transcripts could be used. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
If you can verify that these devs have actually taken the audio from an emergency call, i'd like to see the voice comparison data. A simple sound mixer would be able to reveal it. It's as unique as a fingerprint, and would leave no room for doubt. You should submit it to the authorities. otherwise I call BS.
These things happen in that 'safe' city you think you live in. The scary things that police, firefighters and EMT's face on a daily basis would make you go pale.
I think it's just fine to know what they have to deal with, and how the dispatching process works.
If you don't have the stomach for this, it's fine, you can freely decide not to support it.
I do, though. A lot of my friends are in emergency services, and I myself have been trained in urban fire supression and riot control drills in the military. They have to deal with it. I had to deal with it. I don't think its a bad thing for others to awaken to what actually happens out there either.
Good move guys.
This poster did not see the exclusive list of voice actors/actresses you guys have.
did you really get foehammer? amazing! =x
I saw a video yesterday that gave me that opinion. But I have no clue if that gameplay were from the actual game or the alpha. But if you have replaced the real audio to acted recordings, then I personaly can support this game again.
The point is you have to think of others. Imagine a tragedy in your family and then you dialing 911 all crying and sobbing and deeply disturbed and people just putting your call in a game like that.
