This person made a SUPER helpful department setup that I've copied down below. How do people feel about it? Any suggestions on improvements, the best way to staff the departments, or how to set up the rooms?

Thats a great department setup but it takes some work to get to the point where it can be implemented. Here's how I usually begin.
==============================
1: Build a modestly sized Reception area/waiting room and a small staff room.
2: Build a combination Office/Examination room.
3: Set up 3 shifts. Day, night, and Graveyard.
4: In the Polyclinic; Assign each Shift one Doctor one Nurse (with laboratorian). Also set up 1 cleaner per shift.
5: Build a pharmacy.
6: Add a seperate Lab room and a W/C when you pass the neccesary milestone.
7: Build an administration room and assign an administrator with the management specialization to manage your polyclinic. This should expand the staff limit to 12.
8:When budget permits, add a 2nd Office/Examination room and a 2nd doctor for each shift. This gives you 2 doctors and 1 nurse per shift plus an administrator. Total staff = 10/12
9: Build a seperate x-ray room when you pass the neccesary milestone.
10: Hire two more nurses with Radiology and assign one each to the Day and NIght shifts.This gives you 2 doctors and 2 nurses per day and night shift, 2 doctors and 1 nurse for graveyard, and an administrator. Total staff =12/12 (Try to get a nurse with Radiology AND Laboratorian for the graveyard shift if possible but it's not critical to do so.)
11: Build a Ward
12: Set up a Surgery Department. Add all surgeries to its scope.
13: Build a Operating room, a waiting room, and a staff room and assign them each to the Surgerey department.
14 Assign 1 surgeon and 1 nurse per shift to the Surgery department.
15: Start rolling in the dough.
=================================
Once you start doing surgeries the money starts rolling in. I usually begin construction of a large new facility to replace the original clinic. You can do the construction in phases, by department.
================================
To make the transition between the old clinic and the new Hospital go smoothly I usually work backwards up the departments list. For example, I start with the Surgery department, Then I build a new Radiology wing and set up the corresponding department with staff, then I build new lab facilities and set up a lab department with staff, then pharmacy, then examination, then polyclinic. I shut down the old rooms when they are replaced by new ones. Doing it backwards helps to minimize the chaos that can happen during the transition from the old clinic to the new hospital.
===============================
What do ya'll think? How do you do things?

this sounds very good man :) :steamhappy: you can also upload some photos to show us your progress between the transition. i will do the same with my strategy.

One suggestion from my experience... the administrators... are very usefull.... im going to use them from the beginning on my next hospital. Till now i made so many departments to have many staff but with administrators you can have many staff in one department.

Adminstrators are certainly key, and since to me they doesn't seem to really do anything while at work you can even make a 1 hour shift for them so that you don't have to pay them as much in wages.

lol wow skov you are clever :D i haven't thought this about money, and i spent tones on staff salaries :D tnx!!!

Administrators with the "Human Resources" skill have a button linked to them which says "Contract Management", and these administrators will send Staff out on contracts automatically for you, but it is true that they don't have much use other than that for now :)

@Tel-Amarth
Cool post you've got going on here! I'll pin it to the forum so it's easy for new players to see, as I think it's really helpful!

I added a Ward department to the list up top.

Create a new department for it. Add the ward to the department. Set it to be shared (like in the picture). No Scopes available, no staff needed.

Now, the trick the get it working is not the ward itself but the scopes on the other departments. The staff from the other departments will come to the ward and do their stuff.

The most important on the scopes from other departments is, don't add all treatments/diagnoses etc. at once but do it one by one.

Example Pharmacy: click on the plus then DON'T highlight all treatments at once. click on the plus and add one treatment, click again and add the next treatment.

Explanation: If you add all at once it is used as an AND-operator, if you add them one by one it is an OR-operator. If you add all treatments at once your patients will only get assigned to the pharmacy if they need all of them. But usually they only need like on, two or three of them.

Congratulations, you should have a working ward now!

Anyone have some advice for making an Emergency Department or Mourge?

what you need my friend? i think about morgue you dont need something special, just assign this room to a department that has porters (you need porters and paramedics for ambulance, and thoracotomy) so maybe its a good idea to assign morgue and emergency room to the same department. You will need 3 doctors, 3 porters and 3 paramedics, so you have to put a doctor to management so you have 9 people capacity. ask if you want something more :)

a tutorial video would be so helpful for me if somebody is able to do one. i learn so much better by watching somebody build while they explain things rather than reading.
constantinet2001 Apr 18, 2018 @ 11:32am
i agree with you :) my english are so bad i cannot make a video with talking :P
but you can search on youtube for hospitalize. they are not many people who playing this on youtube, and may they missing things too :) so i don't know...
i think we can help you from here by showing you images too :) don't worry.

you can upload your screenshots too to show us what exactly you mean when you have a problem, so we can understand easier and help you... if we know the answer :D hehe

about departments things are in generally confused by the moments... so dont worry about them... continue play as polyclinic, and make departments only to have more capacity for staff and change the colour of your rooms so it looks more organized.

thanks constantine:steamhappy: with administrators with skills like management or human resource, do you have to find them with the recruit button in the hire tab?

yes ofcourse you have to choose for what skill you are looking for. i suggest you to look for management skill and put the proposed salary to maximum. cause as i told you you need someone with management skill over 45 (in my opinion). but if you put him in a shift with only 1 hour per day... its actually cheaper than doctors :P
