Lore In-Game?
Whever I play games like WN2 that are often very mysterious in regards to the stories behind them... I find myself wondering about said stories. I try and fill in the blanks where the game often leaves players to wonder. In this game, for example, I answered a thread awhile back that sought an answer as to why monsters are affected by lights. We eventually arrived at the conclusion that the monsters where ghosts/demons and were non coporeal and therfore where burned by the physical sensation of light. But this left Subject 23 up for debate because it is a coporeal being unlike the other monsters. I speculated that Subject 23 was a part of an alien species that was nocturnal and primarily lived undergound, making it sensitive to light. This was based on the fact that it lacks any kind of eyes and has extremely pale skin (signifying lack of light sources in their environment.) Its large ears (and high perception in-game stat) suggest that 23 may also use a form of echolocation to track its prey, which would also prove the species is nocturnal/cave dwelling.

This whole thing got me thinking... how could lore be incorporated into this game that would answer these kind of questions that players have?

The idea I came up with would be to link pieces of lore to the tapes you find in game. In the "Extras" section in-game, a new section could be added called "Lore" where a category for each survivor or monster would appear. In each section, you would have to find a certain amount of tapes linked to the investigator/monster. Once you find all of the tapes for the investigator/monster, their lore section would open up. For example, one section would read "Olkoth: 0/5 Discovered" or something along those lines.

In a game, everytime an investigator picks up a tape, there would be a random chance that that tape would count towards unlocking any of the sections or not count towards any. In keeping with the Olkoth example, after an investigator picks a tape up, a message would appear saying "Olkoth tape discovered." After the match, the section for Olkoth would read "1/5 Discovered."

What would appear in each lore section could be anything from audio recordings to a more detailed bio of the investigator/monster. For the investigators, it may give a more detailed background about thier life before WN2 or something related to their previous jobs. For the monsters, it may give details about how each of them became linked to the artifact or just a more detailed bio of them as well. Once a section is unlocked, you will no longer recieve notifications when an investigator picks up a tape related to the unlocked section. You will recieve the normal notification.

I understand that this would take an extreme amount of work from the devs side and would take a lot of time to implement, but I think it would be a really cool addition to the game for curious people like me. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to read this and please let me know what you think (devs too if possible, if there is already a lore idea in the works that would be really awesome to know about.)

I often suggested that randomly one clue. Mostly the tape on the map will unlock a lore page of one character in the extras. The unlocks can be either a location lore, investigator or creature. Depending on which one was in the match where you found that clue. So it will take a while to fill those. Maybe some very rare unique lores like a lore about the pack. But if you want a clear description of what i suggested back than try find the post.
