Unable to zoom with gamepad?
I do not own motion tracking controlers, but I was elated to learn that the gamepad is supported. Alas, it seems to lack a zoom function so that's one achievement I won't be getting. Hopefully this can be resolved in an update, or we can find a way to bind that function to a keystroke or button?

(I am playing on a smartphone running the iVRy app.)

It's the UP button on the gamepad.

Were you able to finish the game, or did you get stuck? I too played with iVRY ap, and without motion tracking controllers... I got to the last scene of the game and got stuck, unable to enter the last room because I could not "lean in close" to look in a place. (being vague so I don't spoil anything). Did you find a work around for this?

I played with Rift and xbox controller and finished game. I can't remember the ending and can't remember having to lean in close for anything. What was the name of the scene from the main menu?

edit: if you're talking about the 3 cells and the one where joker's in there, yea I was stuck there for a little; just keep looking around, right, left, eventually the scene will automatically progress magically.

Exactly that_lightworker... He tells me to come closer to the cell window, but I can't so I just sit there frustrated. So it will eventually have mercy on me and let me in? If so, about how long did it take (approx) maybe I was too impatient.... What do you think?... you may have just saved the day for me here.

How about you Dr. Cheis? Did you get stuck there too or get in the room?

And also, that_lightworker... you said you used a rift... does that mean you used motion trackers?

I don't have motion trackers, just used xbox controller only. At the very beginning I pressed the A button to skip the motion tracking calibration part. I used my headset to look around, although some of the features I wasn't able to do as a result of not having motion controllers. I'm fined with that though.

It didn't take long, maybe a minute or two? It actually took me much longer trying to figure out the code to the lockbox (looking all over the place for some numbers/listening to tape recorder). Luckily a hint showed up on top ... duhh. Hopefully you got through where you was stuck.

well nuts.... I just got back into town.... hung outside room 425 looking this way and that way hoping to be let in the room... no dice for me... I got 20 minutes of taunting asking me to come closer... Any tips or tricks, advice from Dr. Cheis? Or that_lightworker, any suggestions?... guessing I'm just out of luck as my punishement for being too cheap not to by a Rift or Vive.

I think it’s impossible without motion tracking of some sort to be honest. I’m looking into some cheep options to add that to my budget headset.

I think there is confusion I this thread as to what motion tracking is. There are the motion controllers, and then there’s the way the VR environment tracks your actual position as you move your head around.

I currently can rotate my view but cannot alter my location. This requires motion tracking g on the headset.

No that’s the exact same problem as I have.
I looked into programs like FacetrackNoir and WalkinVR but no luck so far.
I figured there would be some program that you coild bind a keystroke to emilate head tracking positions so I can simply “lean in” but no luck.
Any ideas out there?

same problem 12/25/2019, can't pass that part with Oculus rift + xbox 360 controller :(

Just curious - when you guys say you have a Rift without motion controllers, that's probably a DK1/2 then? Or was it actually possible to buy a CV1/S without the controllers? And if you have a DK2, then you should at least have 6DOF motion tracking with the IR sensor, right (so you should be able to lean in)?

People usually getting stuck by not having motion trackers... not only does it stop you from getting all the achievements... but more frustrating is that at the very last scene of the game you can't enter the last place without being able to "lean in" and look. I went crazy trying to come up with a hack for this with an iPhone and Xbox controller... and I succeeded. Check out an earlier post of mine that explains how.

or here it is:

100% Complete on a $20 VR rig
I did a lot of tinkering with this game. I wanted to play it, but was not willing to lay out hundreds of bucks for a Vive or Rift etc. So for under $20 I scrapped together gear and software to play this... it was clunky at times and certainly not the same experience as one of those cool legit rigs... but if you are curious about the game and want to test it out on the cheap, it can be done.

I bought a $5 carboard Googe VR head set, a $7 ap called iVRy mobile that displays the game on my mobile phone, a $5 USB adapter for my old Kinect sensor. And free trial software called "driver4VR". But also, (option 2) you can skip the Kinnect sensor and use different software called "WalkinVR" that allows you to use a regular controller to move instead of sensors in the room tracking your movement in space. I like option two better, easier set up.

It actually worked. Without motion tracking you can get all the way until the last scene before you get stuck... and there are about 6 Riddler trophies/Destructable Objects that you need to be able to move more than looking direction... But with the above set ujp I got 100% on the game 30/30 Riddles and 18/18 Destructable Objects. And it is a fun thing to noodle around with.

Good luck
