A lot of us played the QfG series growing up. What are some things you recently discovered about the games that you never knew about before?

In QFG1...
"Flame Dart" is an alternate solution for the bird's nest puzzle - you can burn it and it'll fall to the ground, letting you take the ring inside.
"Open" is an alternate solution for the spitting spirea puzzle - the flowers will open up and the seed will drop to the ground.
However, I think the Open solution *might* result in less points than the Fetch solution.
Clicking the Dispel Potion on anything BUT the Brigand Leader in the Leader's room results in a funny paragraph lampshading how, after everything you went through to get the Dispel Potion, you just throw it away. It also immediately results in your death.

In QFG2...
In the Blue Parrot in, you can steal the oil lamp at the very back of the room. You can't use it as a light source, but you *can* use it as an oil source for oiling hinges.

In QFG3...
The game has a specific text box for if you try to cast "Open" on the un-oil'd chest in the Simbani Laibon's room when you're breaking in as a Thief. Sadly, it's nothing special (just that your open spell caused the chest to squeak), but it does result in a funny glitch where the Laibon sits up, spear in hand, and freezes in that position, as if the game intended to kill you but changed its mind halfway through.
(Note that casting any spell just gives you the "Failed at stealth" death message, meaning that QFG3 is the only game in the series where casting "Detect Magic" can actually directly result in your death.)
There's also a lengthy paragraph for casting "Detect Magic" during the Leopardman Shaman Duel. In fact, if it's the first action you do, you can still win the duel, since failing to summon your staff counts as a point against you, but not an automatic loss.

In QFG4...
If you have non-zero "Magic" skill, the combat system assumes you have the basic combat spells, and setting the game to Strategy may result in the Hero casting spells he doesn't have, which will actually count as improving your Magic and Intelligence.
For some reason, importing a Paladin from a folder set up to be A: may result in losing your Heal spell but gaining two random spells instead of it. I literally have no clue why such a thing can happen.
Lori Cole provides some of the voiced lines for Magda!

In QFG5...
Using the Paladin's "Sense Aura" on enemies may result in interesting flavor text; for instance, the General that you have to fight has his honor eroded so far that he cannot be reasoned with, so the Paladin is definitely forced to kill him.

Heros Quest V1.00 (QFG1EGA) has changes to the point system. Specifically, getting robbed in the back alley of 1.00 results in -10 if you give money. No points are taken in either the later EGA versions, nor the VGA.

QFG2 - the day/night timer is set to go off at a particular point, but doesn't change

QFG3 - you don't have to watch the scene where the thief cheats the money changer. If you wait until after you head to the Simbani Village, and later head back to Tarna at night, you can talk with the thief which will cancel out the encounter during the day. If you don't meet him at night, you can walk across the savannah with Rakeesh a second time!

Also, if you have Royals and Dinars in your moneypouch, the money changer will tell you he can't help you. Glitch!

QFG4 - You can find Igor dead in the grave and take the crypt key from him there. Also, you can press '?' repeatedly on MOST puzzles and solve them automagically (sans points).

QFG5 - You can play as Elsa and Magnum Opus using hacked saves. Everything works... except you cannot beat the game. It crashes when being transfered to the fight with the dragon.

QFG2 - You can get some money to buy a map, by going into the desert and killing a brigand. (Try to stay near the mountain, so you don't get lost, and save first.)

I don't know if this is in the original or just the AGD remake, but various NPCs will respond negatively to a thief picking his nose in front of them. Issur and Aziza will even kick him out.

QFG3 - Your communication skill, in addition to bargaining, also affects your first conversation with King Rajah. When Rajah asks you a question, based on your hero class, a low skill will make him tell Rakeesh, "Your companion is not much of a speaker." A higher skill will instead make him say, "Very well." Having a high skill also makes it easier to convince Manu to take you to the lost city in the end.

QFG4 - as a thief, you can max your lockpicking skill on the safes in the thieves guild. Each time you click on "crack safe", you'll get more skill points - even after you've already opened it.

You can also stake Ad Avis in the end, by taking out Erana's staff and then doing an acrobatic jump on him after you distract him with the joke. (You will need to jump back to where you were standing before, to use the staff on the crystal, afterwards.)

As a wizard, if you cast the reversal spell before cooking Baba Yaga's pie, it'll prevent you from being turned into a hedgehog. (No, it doesn't turn *her* into a hedgehog instead, but her reaction is funny.)

QFG5 - as a thief, you can max your pickpocketing skill by attempting to pickpocket Bruno when he appears at the thieves guild. You won't be able to steal anything from him, but you'll advance your skill every time you try. After that, pick the dummy and leave, then come back and do it again. Rinse and repeat until you hear the points sound, to get the score deed for successfully picking the dummy.

When sneaking into Minos' place in the end, there's a goon guard; who's incredibly hard to avoid getting caught by. But if you're quick enough, you can take him out by throwing the poisoned dagger at him - right after you jump to the top of the wall near him.

One of the ideal gifts for winning Elsa's heart is an amulet of defense, but she'll also accept an Atlas armband.

just started playing QFG1 again. ive plyed through it at least 4 times before but never knew if you sneak through the woods you could avoid wandering monsters. Im playing a thief and was trying to build my stealth skill and a pop up on screen said I avoided a monster by hiding in the bushes.

That had never happened before. I thought that was pretty darned cool.

Yes, you can also do that in the desert in QFG2, but only when you're sneaking and not riding the saurus; without whom you run the risk of getting lost. Still, if you're fast enough, you can throw a dagger at the enemy, while he's passing by; which will either one-shot him or bring him down to half his health.

QFG4 will also let you sneak through the woods unseen by monsters, but won't let you throw daggers at them.
