The only thing you're missing out on is an exceedingly generic death message that's not even personalized for the situation. It's the same one you see if you die fighting the Apemen or the Demons in the lost city.
Regardless, there's a person on Youtube dedicated to recording and posting death messages in video games - MrWhitman. He did it for all of the Quest for Glory games (a word of warning: His QFG5 videos blare *all* of the audio out one speaker due to an error and it makes it painful on the ears, so you may want to watch them on low volume.) and it includes the message death scene for this scenario.
His playlists also include videos posted by other people featuring stuff he missed.
