If not, I have an experiment I would like you to try - reload your character in QFG1, do a few things (pick up and throw rocks, drop an unimportant item, or drink a healing/vigor/power potion) and then re-export the file.
I used to have this issue with QFG4 to 5, where I couldn't export my wizard. Then I noticed the size of the .sav was WAY off. I went back in, dithered around for a bit, then re-did the end of the game, and the save file was in the correct range and it exported just fine.
I think I'll just try it on a GOG version. This is a hot mess.
Although I did not try it on steam version, it should be the same as GOG as well as the CD version, and i've just tested it and it works for me.
1. Copy your savegame 'GLORY1.SAV' from QFG1
2. Browse to your QFG5 install directory.
3. You will find a folder named : 'Imports', Open it
4. Paste your savegame from QFG1 into it.
5. Launch the game
6. 'Play Game' to start a new adventure
7. Click 'Import'
Your QFG1 savegame should be part of that list.
I hope it works for you as well :)
I DID however get it to work on my GOG version of the game.
