Import Error
When importing from my end of game QFG1 sav into QFG2 I recieve a "doesn't appear to be a valid import file" error message. There are a number of fixes for this issue, but none that appear to work for the steam version. Has anyone else had this problem? Any luck with a fix?

Hmm, while I'm looking for a solution, I'm curious - did you perform any glitches or cheats to raise your characters stats or skills above 100?

If not, I have an experiment I would like you to try - reload your character in QFG1, do a few things (pick up and throw rocks, drop an unimportant item, or drink a healing/vigor/power potion) and then re-export the file.

I used to have this issue with QFG4 to 5, where I couldn't export my wizard. Then I noticed the size of the .sav was WAY off. I went back in, dithered around for a bit, then re-did the end of the game, and the save file was in the correct range and it exported just fine.

Hey this worked! I went to my last save, dropped some apples and cheetaur claws, re ran the ending, and saved a new file, which transferred with no problems! Thank you for the suggestion!:steamhappy:

When I'm trying to import my character from QFG1 to QFG5, the Steam version does not seem to be able to find the file, though I've saved it in multiple places and tried to point the import to the several directories (C:\ root, D:\ root, and other sub-folders), but no luck.

I think I'll just try it on a GOG version. This is a hot mess. :steamsad:

Hey CadeRageous :)
Although I did not try it on steam version, it should be the same as GOG as well as the CD version, and i've just tested it and it works for me.
1. Copy your savegame 'GLORY1.SAV' from QFG1
2. Browse to your QFG5 install directory.
3. You will find a folder named : 'Imports', Open it
4. Paste your savegame from QFG1 into it.
5. Launch the game
6. 'Play Game' to start a new adventure
7. Click 'Import'
Your QFG1 savegame should be part of that list.

I hope it works for you as well :)

I have the steam version, and am having the same problem. The import just doesn't show up when I'm trying to import on QFG2, I tried to local my saved game files for steam, but can't even find those....

Yeah, I put the save file in every possible place, but no matter where I pointed the import directory to, it just never would find the file. So weird.

I DID however get it to work on my GOG version of the game.
