QG 2 air elemental issue
Blew through QG 1 with a mage. Stats not the best in QG 2. Now with air elemental, having issues. the path is so random that I cannot cast levitate fast enough or get throw down as I try to rise. Even with 1 game tile away, not close enough to drop dirt/sand. I try to hover until I run out of mana and the air elemental will not get close to me. Stay on the opposite side of the map. I keep chasing it. Air elemental is close the wall and get the message need more room to cast the spell. I sent few hours with many reloads once I ran out of pills/mana. Timing is impossible, it changes directions really fast. Long ago when I played, had no issues. I hover in a spot, drop dirt, bellows and done.

Try getting close to it then cast levitate.

You don't need to levitate for this one

Simple is to redo QFG 1, play to raise stats to 100 then jump in QFG 2 will be easier. Trying short cut in flying through the game with not raising stats does hurt for later games.

You're not making much sense.

Since air elemental can be challenging for a mage....getting all stats in the first game to 100. So when you import to QFG 2 and by the time you get the air elemental, you can do the fighter way of stopping the air elemental. Your strength should be high enough by then.

The air elemental isn't challenging for a mage - it's the least stat dependent of all three classes. Speedrunners going through the EGA don't have any minimum stat requirements for it - even 5 Magic in a new game is enough to deal with it. (Not that we actually beat any of the elements anymore.) In fact, the mage route is what I use for every class in Any% without skips - the Thief and Fighter need to be north of 70 in EGA version to connect with throwing, and the Fighter needs even more Strength. The magic-user, in comparison, could be the elemental with 5 Magic and the Levitate spell.

Instructions:
1. Run to the middle of the room, cast levitate, press the UP button to go high up in the air.
2. Get "drop dirt" queued up in your parser when the elemental is really, really close to where you started your levitate. (The drop zone is tight, and the elemental goes can be trolly, but don't worry - sooner or later, it'll work. If it doesn't work the first time and the game tells you the elemental isn't in a good position but you think it's close, press SPACE or F3 then ENTER over and over to retry without typing the whole command.)
3. Drop the dirt in, and it'll stop moving.
4. Press DOWN until you land.
5. Use bellows.

Try waiting until the next day - the first day the air elemental arrives, it's shy and doesn't want to approach you.
The next day, it's much more bolder.

^^^ That's valid. I usually handle him on day 9, so I forgot the earlier days.
