Quest for Glory 3 import issue
Years ago when I played the originals I started QFG1 with a fighter thief combo, beat it and wished for intelligence and twice for magic making a F/M/T. I did this as the fighter is the only way to get the sword and shield. It allowed me to do two story lines to completion. I imported the new triple class character just fine into QFG2 and played all story lines to completion. When importing my character into QFG3 however, the game detected that my character had magic skill and defaulted it from the fighter to the Magic User and took my sword and shield. Does anyone know if this is patched out?

Wow, you must've played a really early version of QFG3 - even when I first played the game myself, it was one of the slightly later versions that allowed you to change what class your character imported as as a safeguard against issues like that. So, yes, this issue has been patched out, though the issue itself doesn't pop up any more in the first place.

(Also you're probably not remembering your wishes right - three wishes like that would have resulted in a game over, because your final wish has to be "teleport". But considering how long ago you must've played it, I don't blame you for remembering things wrong.)

That being said, the intro cutscene tries its best to guess how you beat the second game, so you might not see the same solution you used. That's normal.

I also don't recommend, on Import, clicking the "Continue" button when it asks which character you're selecting, especially for hybrid characters. For example, clicking Continue has a tendency to remove spells like "Open" and "Trigger" for some reason. If you click the button for the intended class rather than "Continue" it gets your spells correct.

Bear in mind that when you import to #3 as a fighter you will be locked to the fighter-specific content and unable to access things that are specific to the wizard or thief. In this regard the third game is the strictest one about enforcing class-based story differences - which, to be fair, are also more developed than in the others - although #4 has a few things that are similarly limited (one significant thing for the wizard, several for the paladin).

The reason for spells disappearing if it uses a default class configuration is that the game assumes that a magic-capable fighter or thief only learned combat-related spells for the most part. You get a similarly limited set if you create a new fighter or thief character in 3 or 4 and add the magic skill.
