Unable to save Flipbook
I can render a flipbook just fine but when it comes time to save I get an error message.

An error occured while encoding.
EnvControl: HOUDINI_USER_PREF_DIR missing__HVER__,ignored.
No licenses could be found to run this application.
Please check for a valid license server host.

Hey Steve, thanks for posting about this and sorry to hear you're running into problems saving flipbooks.

It seems like this could be a Steam specific problem but we'll need to confirm that. Have you been able to save flipbooks in a non-Steam version of Houdini in the past?

I'll look into this and try to get an answer for you soon. In the meantime you could submit a bug to SideFX support to see if this issue has come up before in non-Steam versions of Houdini. The bug submission form is here: https://www.sidefx.com/bugs/submit/

I contacted SideFX support and was told that it is a Steam licensing issue. But, somehow I doubt they can deal with this particular issue. Note, I am unable to render anything flipbook, mantra, etc...
Previously I've used the SideFX Indie (non-Steam) version and have been able to render everything just fine.
I tried rolling back to the 17.0 production build, and uninstalling and reinstalling. No luck.

Strike that. I can render a mantra node. Lots of error messages though:
