Houdini Indie doesn't start

I haven't used Houdini for a few months. When I tried to launch today, Steam will launch but when I try to run Houdini it appears like it will run...then simply doesn't. I've tried to launch from the desktop icon, from Steam...

Hey Steve, sorry to hear you're having problems launching Houdini. Can you tell me which version of Houdini Indie you're using? (Are you using any of the Beta versions?) Also, can you try reinstalling Houdini Indie on Steam and then try launching it again?

Hi Ben, It is the newest Beta version. Daily_175.
I have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail.

Ok thanks for trying that. Next could you try switching to the default Houdini Indie version by selecting "None - Opt out of all beta programs" from the Betas list and see if it launches or not?

Ok, I did that. No difference. Still doesn't start.

Is there a Fix to this? Because I have the same problem now, Houdini was working fine in the morning and now it has this problem. No logs or anything.

Its happening to me Too is there a fix for this?

I just installed Houdini indie through steam and can't get it to run either.
I get the following error
Fatal Python error: initfsencoding: unable to load the file system codec
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'encodings'

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Houdini Indie on Steam. The first things to try are:
1. Reinstall Houdini Indie on Steam
2. Try a different version of Houdini, like the Previous Production Build, by right clicking on Houdini Indie in your Steam library, selecting Properties, selecting Betas, and choosing a Houdini build from the list.
3. Reinstall Steam itself.
