Getting new guns in camp

Hi All,

I can't buy enough 24lb Howitzers for my army and haven't been able to for some time. Can anyone explain how the game decides to post new equipment available for sale in the camp screen?

You get new weapons and officer after each campaign phase, that is to say after each major battle fought. It is a fixed amount regardless of the amount that was in the shop before the battle was fought so you can save up guns this way if you want by purchasing any leftovers before fighting the major battle.

Purchasing all available of a weapon from the shop before wach major battle is a good way to obtain enough high quality weapons to use. It's the only way to be able to use henry and colt revolving rifles in the late game.

I didn't realize you could purchase weapons except by immediately equipping them to a unit

The armory allows you to purchase weapons without assigning them to brigades. Useful so you have extra rifles on hand.

This strategy works for officers as well, buy them up before a major battle. They will reset afterwards.

Does the unpurchased stock of guns available in the shop change or disappear over time or after every major battle, or do they just keep accumulating?

Hypothetically, if I wanted to save money and buy 24 Howitzers later, will the same amount (or more) still be there after several Grand Battles?

Unfortunately, it does not work like that. The weapons screen refreshes after every major battle, meaning that while 24PDR Howitzers will eventually be up to 8 or so guns avaible, you must purchase them between major battles to field them earlier in the campaign. Unpurchased guns are presumably sent to other armies, as in theory you are not fighting the war alone, and are thus unavailable.
