Help with cheating for career points?
I have been looking for how to use cheat engine to get career points, and cannot find a tutorial, or someone explaining. I have been trying on my own but that doesn't work. Can someone please help?
Thanks in advance,
German

The modders need to address this issue. With all the bugs in the perks and promotion traits, the career points are even more important than the developers considered.

For example, the major battles should be worth 3 points instead of 2, and multi-day battles should be worth 2 points per day.
Why on earth do you want to cheat career points? I don't see why anyone would need everything on 10, in order to win a campaign; nor can I envisage much satisfaction in 'winning' a campaign through cheating?

Sorry, I'm not having a go, or criticising, just curious that's all ;)

In UGCW, I don't think it's possible to "cheat" as in play in a devious manner...although the AI gets a scaling advantage, unless you use Mod1.9.2.

I took the meaning of German's question to be how to use gambits as devices in the structure and use of your army to gain career points. Since the perks and command traits don't work the way they are supposed to, the career points are needed to compensate.

As it is, it is not possible to max out all the career point scales. I never use any career points for recon, that's what my cav and skirmishers do, but it would be nice to see more information about enemy units shooting at me...but not nice enough to forego Politics and Medicine, and you can't even play through the campaign up to Gaines' Mill without adding to Organization.

King of the Mods I am sorry I only wanted to cheat because it is one of my first times playing, and I would like to see how the game works. MesquiteThorn thanks for the advice. Sorry if make grammar mistakes or no one understands what I'm saying because I am younger than most people here, and I thank everyone who made comments on this post.
Thanks in advance,

Transcript of a description of how to use cheat engine for the game:
"the most basic method is to search for a number in-game.
select the UGCW process, then enter your cash or recruits number in the value box.
hit first scan.
modify the number in-game by buying something, then change the number in cheat engine to match it, then hit next scan - repeat until there's as few values as possible (normally found after 3 or so scans).
double-click the address so it appears down at the bottom, then modify to your heart's content."

For those of us who avoid anything described by the word "cheat", is "cheat engine" a thing?

Cheat engine is basically a memory/save file editor that can be used for most games.

Is a cheat engine anything like a hex editor?

Yes, hex editing is used.

So, the ConfigFile in ModV1.9.2, for example, which is displayed in text and base-10 digits, is linked to what is hexi-decimal in the game files.

Wow...I should take a course in hex editing. I can't even imagine how changing a value in Column B of the ConfigFile can actually affect the function identified in Column A.

Or, what it would take to add lines to the ConfigFile. Or, how it's even possible to have a config file. Or, that kids are using cheat engines every day.

The configFIle values used by that mod are tied into code changes in the game dll. No hex editing is involved there.

With what do you open a .dll file in UGCW? I'm guessing it's not Windows or anything provided by Microsoft.

Dnspy or a similar program
