There is a campaign, where the major battles will come in the order shown and you can decide which minor engagement you want to fight first - or just go directly to the main event.
You build your army dynamically through the campaign and losses in men and generals will carry forward.
Overall, lots more content than UGG and if you enjoyed the combat system and the feel of the game, this will give you way more than that. The maps are in 3D for example which looks cool and you come to understand why the battles played out the way they did due to the terrain. Of course, you might change that but still.
