CSA Chancellorsville
Do I have to capture Chancellorsville farm to win as CSA? Isn't it enough to defend Orange Pike and Roads?

After losing 29k soldiers at Antietam and 13k soldiers at Stones River. I am not in the mood of advancing into 90 thousands Yankees!

Unfortunately for you yes you do have to take the farm (to win at least, check the upper right for the other draw conditions). And, in case you are new to the game, you will be having to fight a side battle immediately afterwards as well so be sure to have some troops left over for that

Hoods arse! I am trying to preserve manpower for the biggest battles as Chickamauga and Gettygsburg! I have 2 fully fleshed out corps with around 52500 soldiers and 144 guns. Current manpower pool is 7000. Brigadier general difficulty. I feel I my army will start to shrink a bit every battle, Wont be able to flesh out the 4th corp...

I am trying a mindset to lose fewer men than the victory condition give you the amount of men.

If you need help with the basics of the game and the battles there are a number of very helpful guides for new players you can check out. On BG 50-60k troops should still be doable but yes, in future you ideally want to have fewer casualties than the award in as many battles as possible if not for all of them.

You should be able to do this with minimal losses.

Have you been using slow motion to get that pin-perfect micro?

Day 1: You have the advantage early on, so try to kill as many Union as possible, but then play defense as they start to bring more men.

Day 2: You should have more men on the left flank, so again try to deal as much damage as possible over there (you won't be able to get to the VP, I'm pretty certain, so try to preserve your guys).

Day 3: This is the day you have to take the Victory Point. Again you're left flank will be the attackers, with the southern troops helping by pushing up (but staying more defensive for quite a while). Have some rookie brigades to do the initial charge on the Farm. Watch out for Union reinforcements from the North late in the day.

I know exactly the feeling of an ever shrinking CSA army (from my Legendary campaign)!

With 52k it is possible. The Pause Button, Detached Skirmishers and many woods that give good cover are your friends. Wide flanking movements are a good idea at Chancellorsville. The game allows bent arrows...

Some skirmishing and artillery fire on Day 1, Attack in the West (Jackson´s Flanking March) while keeping control in the east on Day 2 (both aiming at high casualties) and crush them from all sides on day 3, especially from the west, north-west and south-east. Be aware that the Union is reinforced from the North.

My first CSA campaign on MG level...I found I need to rope a dope the union on day 1 by staying in trees just above Orange, with more troops to west of the crossroads objective. The purpose is to wear down AI with my day 2 attack from west being the units to take Chancels Farm obj. I found I could sucker the AI into day 1 attacks where they left cover by laying bait, esp w scoped skirms (AI hates scoped skirms). Have to be quick to withdrawal skirms because AI arty swarms skirms. AI seems to leave eastern obj alone, or sends a brig that holds back.

Day 2 is all about western reinf making hay on Union and pushing to trees just west of C Farm. Got to watch action in east because AI will advance to south. So I rope a dope them there. I put 24 lb parrots and other high damage cannon in the corps that starts day 1. The reinf corps gets the long range accurate canons.

Day 3 is a push toward Farm from 3 sides. It worked at BG and Colonel levels. Worked at MG too..
