Best day for the CSA to win Gettysburg?
I'm playing the CSA on BG difficulty and I'm wondering about the pros and cons of trying to win Gettysburg on the 1st day vs. extending the battle to Day 2 or Day 3.

My strategy so far has been to try to get all units to 2 stars with the best weapons I can afford while maximizing Union losses. I have 3 corps; each one has 12 infantry brigades (1,800 men each), 4 artillery brigades (12 guns each); 2 cavalry brigades (750 men each) and 2 sniper skirmisher brigades (300 men) each. So far, Union losses are about 5.4 to 1 of mine.

Should I end it quickly on Day 1 or extend it to try and wipe out the Union army?

There are good opportunities to win the battle on day 1-4.

Day 2: send your entire army south to capture the round tops before they are defended.

Alternate Day 2: if you inflict enough casualties on day 1, then the western part of Culp's Hill is lightly defended and you can sneak behind it and cap the Cemetery Hill VP. This is made easier by being able to bring almost 45 units with the right setup(see D-Dub's guides).

Day 3 and 4: The south Cemetery Ridge VP is fairly easy to take by flanking from the South.

Going all the way to Day 4 tends to be more effort then it is worth so one of the earlier wins tends to be the recommended option.

If its Historical Battle, Day 2. Flank them through Devils Den while holding Troibands brigade at the orchard steady, then roll up their line and leave a garrison to defend the round top (5 brigades should do) and capture cemetary hill.
If its Campaign I'd advise you to try and take cemetary hill on the first day, if you fail then use the same strategy mention previously.

Day 1 - In the initial hours do not get too close to the west ridge tree lines. Let the Union come to you in the open. When the initial brigades of the next Corps arrives flank the west ridge and push down through the city and east of it. Both Corps should be composed of mostly Infantry. After you take Cemetery Ridge (VP) hold from covered positions. Do not squeeze too tight on the bottom south east side as new union brigades will be entering the battlefield. Nevertheless, you should squeeze tight enough to make it hard for them to freely maneuver.
