Ultimate General: Medieval era?
The thought just kinda wandered into my brain today. I wonder if it's something they'd tackle.

Catapults would be the "artillery", and then there would be archers, cavalry, spear/pike men, peasant mobs, and armored footmen...

idk. One can fantasize... :)

With the current melee mechanics? Thanks, but no thanks.
Right. I agree. They would have to think of something different, there. I'm just saying, I really enjoyed the unit command mechanics and the use of the landscape in the strategy. I think it could work.

I'd rather like one set in the medieval era. Of course melee would have to be improved upon (that's a given), but it would open up loads of options for equipping units - crossbow, bow, gambeson, chainmail, half plate and full plate along with shields, swords, and a giant pile of other things to open up more interesting gameplay. Light infantry armed with pikes to shielded swordsmen in the same layout. Need horse archers, lancers, or knights?

Way more options to specialize your poor infantry than UG:CW offers, along with a setting that isn't visited too often nowadays (relatively).

I wonder if there be Culture groups in the UG:MW bringing diffrent advanteges and types of units EG. Western Europe can recurt form Levies and Knights which are the R-V element form UG:CW And the have advangeteges in having Heavy Armor more Eariler on.

Like in my opinion a Medieval Ultimate General would be Viking invasions of England to the Mongols arrving in the 1200s like I feel that to be a fairish enough time form the 860s to 1230s.

Like It isn't two insane compared to a 1066 to 1500 as there isn't as much insane Developments like you still had Charlomange and his Knights to replace Huskarls in the north but compared to Gunpowder, Plate Armor, Early rise of Standing Armies, Mass use of Mercenaries,Pike and shot.
