Agree
Imagnie walking through a cornfield, hot and terrified as Minie balls whizz over your head and hit people in your ranks and then you hear THAT. Holy hell that must have been terrifying...
Someone did a rebel yell sound effect for Take command Second Manassas, in which he overlayed 100s of yells. It was great, but I can't find it right now and it went with my last computer from ca 2005. It should still be there and I still have the computer.

Some samples at 2:30 or so that give some idea what it could have sounded like in battle

Another one. The problem is of course that these are just a few very old men, and it would have sounded a lot more impressive when they were younger and 1000s of them, as well as pumped up with adrenaline.
Anyway, at least it was realized by those men at the very last moment that it had to be recorded. So we know at least what the basic yell sounded like.
Yes sounds great. I uploaded it If you or anyone else wants to hear it https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ywqno3fijkw20w/Reb_Melee.wav?dl=0
