The Soldier's Guide to Repeating Rifles
So, for those folks who want to use repeating rifles on large Infantry brigades, but can't get enough, I present to you a step-by-step guide to get a 2500-man brigade armed with Henry or Spencer repeating rifles (or any rifle for that matter):

Step 1: Aquire 500 Henry or Spencer repeating Rifles (usually by buying them up whenever they appear in the Shop)

Step 2: Create 500-man Infantry brigade armed with preferred repeating rifle.

Step 3: Create or have a brigade of 2000 men.

Step 4: Put both in the same Division.

Step 4.5: Aquire Major General Lafayette McLaws and his beard of awesome and set him as the Division commander.

Step 5: Enter battle and combine the unit armed with repeating rifles with the larger brigade by putting both on top of each other during Deployment and combining them just after the battle starts.
NOTE: You MUST use the Combine ability on the unit that has the preferred weapon - in this case, the smaller, repeating-rifle armed unit, as the unit that received the Combine order will be the unit to share it's weapons.

Result: 2,500-man brigade armed with repeating rifles. Proceed to rip face.

Total result: 5,800 kills for 700 or so losses, mostly due to him being on the front 90% of the time.

This is, unfortunately, something I'd call an exploit - taking advantage of the system in place due to it's limitations. The devs having to compensate by choosing the weapon from one of the brigades - usually the one that you ordered to combine. Probably a good idea if this get fixed at some point. I'd suggest starting by making it so the larger brigade has it's weapons become the divisional brigade's weapon, so this can't be done as effectively with just 500 repeating rifles.

LMAO! kudos to you sir :)

Lol.. Well. Are you sure it doesn't just combine the weapon stats of the two?
Ar the very least, it should have the weapons of the largest brigade.

The 9th Georgia, the other brigade under Divisional command with Liddell's Regiment (armed with Henrys) were equipped with Re-Bored Farmers, one of the slowest loading weapons in the game. And yes, they had the same rate of fire as Liddell's Regiment a previous battle I fought, and much better accuracy than Re-Bores usually have. So yes, they are all armed with Henry rifles with no negatives.

If you want, I've got the save file, so anyone can test it for themselves if they want before they take the same risk I did in spending some 100k over the first 4 Grand Battles for those 500 Henry rifles. Or if they just want to confirm this.

So yea, broken as hell. But fun as hell too!

Thanks for confirming this, soldier. I've been wondering how mismatched weapons work in a merged brigade. Now I know. Hopefully the devs address it. This is uber cheaty.

Tip: Merging your small henry brigade with 5 other rebored farmer brigades will make it possibile to rank up 7 officers at once with said face rippers.

Power leveling at it's finest, heh. Hopefully this'll get fixed, preferably with another mechanic like mixed weapons in brigades.

Note: smaller brigades earn experiences much, much faster than larger ones. Liddell's Regiment had a 44 Firearms stat (they participated in two previous battles - Malvern Hill and Cedar Mountain, the latter being where they earned all of the Firearms stat from 25 to 44) , and by the end of the battle after it's 5,800 kills, it had 78. The 9th Georgia (1,600 strong) was a completely raw rookie unit at the start of the battle, and by the end had 50 Firearms and 58 Melee.

You've earned glory today, Soldier.

Henry Rifles show up often enough for both sides in the shop for me but I've never seen either a Spencer or Spencer Carbine for sale, I usually have to capture those.

I *think* Spencer carbines appear latter on in the campaign for the Union, but no Spencer Rifles. Haven't played enough Union to confirm this.

Glory, or infamy in the group of devs? :P I'd love to join the beta testers, but I'm actually quite busy with another project of mine (funnily enough, one very similar the path Darth took). Once that's over and I have more free time, might be nice.

Spencers are a reward for capturing Union skirmishrs.

You build up 500 over the course of multiple Grand Battles. 127 here, 129 there, 200 over on the other side. You'll get enough eventually.

Really hope this gets fixed, and kind of regretting my choice of posting it here.

Thanks for posting this. When the Devs fix this, it is just another step to illustrating why it was such a Wise Idea to release this on Early Access.

Again, congratulations on your Excellent gaming skills and for being so generous as to share it so it can be remedied!
