Nashville Pike

How exactly do you beat this as the rebs? I cannot do it because despite attacking one star units that have been reduced to 500 men with literally thousands of three star men (6,000 to start with) I cannot actually get the men to break through the fortifications. They seem to like to stand there and shoot, even if you order them to charge. When you do eventually get through you get no bonus for firing at the fortifications from both directions. I cannot get my soldiers to melee. 20,000 men, mostly three star, cannot overwhelm 5,000 one star men, who incidentally have no artillery at all because I've killed them all and no cavalry because I killed them all.

So I know for me this is my most costly battle to win. I have to move up starting on the first day from the south with my main force and push them back to force as many casualties as possible. Then once then get to the pike I bring in my resrve force to attack from behind and flank them. If this battle gets to the 2nd day I lose because the fortifications are so damn tough.

Flank VERY hard to the north across the northrnmost ford. you can sneak behind Nashville pike without any fortifications.

The last patch nerfed flanking shots on fortifications. Go around, or charge through with cavalry (with a forest approach angle). Once they break your infantry can shoot them to pieces. The next patch will probably fix it, so many complaints about it.

I was tryed napoleonic style big columns, charging on full speed. With generals for morale recover. + concentrate arty fire.

But when I tried to attack North part of Nashville pike in the same way, I have very big casualties, because Union have 2-nd line of brigades on this position.

I tried stones river as CSA hard again yesterday。。。I did nothing on day 1 except clear some of guns。。and I did nearly nothing except atking union Calvary on the day 2。。。I launch an whole melee charge for 2 Vps at the last 10 minutes and captured 2 vps at the last minute。。and end the game😲。。Bug again,just 5000 casualties and 20000kills

because I find that the 2vps dont need 20 minutes to hold...so I could end the game and got a victory while I captured both vps at last minute ,this is a bug too

Yeah I had similar problems... except with me the Union units were all 500-600 as they'd already been shredded by my men which remained almost full strength - there must have been about 2,500 union troops in total in that area of your screenshot. I got through in the end but my army was completely and totally decimated by a couple of thousand poor quality troops.
