Canister Shot
Could the game please add information about when artillery will use canister or grapeshot. It is hard to know if my artillery is close enough to fire canister at the enemy, and having a line on the artillery's range arc denoting when they will use canister would be awesome

That would be cool.

I think canister is used in this game instead of grapeshot, which is in my understanding larger and fewer shot per round. Canister has smaller shot and many more per round than grape.

Players have been asking for lines to show where canister, low-explosive shells, and roundshot would be used, but at this stage, I doubt it'll happen in this game. I don't know if there's any double-canisters used or not, but I'm guessing not.

Personally, I'd be happy with just wider arc lines to show up against the terrain better.

If you smoke, I know canister range is about the length of a bic lighter zoomed all the way out for ordance rifles and both parrots and it is close to it for napoleons and 24# howitzers, it is kinda near the metal part. It is all guess work but it is some type of eyeball measurement. Hope that helps
YIIIIISSSSSS!

I really do have a dofficult time judging when wiht 24Pdr Howitzers are at a sufficiently safe range, but they can still use cannister shot.

Yes, that will be good.

Besides, shells also can do good damage, so as long as your arty don't fire solid shots, it's still good enough.

Of course, canister shots are the best, but for some cannons, range for canister shot is dangerously short, so you might happy with shells.

Reminds me of total war games such as empire and napoleon having two ranges. The smaller cone indicating canister and then the longer cone extenting more outwards for normal shot.

Should be fairly easy to add two more range lines to the normal range arc.
