If you see the word Spencer, buy 'em all using gold or prestige, whatever it takes. Stockpile them over time, because Dartis will hand you a pile of them when the time is right, grab 'em all, they're worth their weight in gold. And when you command the Lighting Brigade, make sure they take heavy, heavy casualties so they leave their weapons behind.
Henry's, yes. To a point. They are hard to stockpile and take a great deal of time and cost and you will never possess them in the same quantity as Spencer rifles and carbines. But in the hands of a 3 star brigade late in the game they breathe fire.
Colts go to the skirmishers.
Yeah, the South shall not rise again.
how many do they kill?
It might be partly because of me subconsiously expecting too much from the fancy new weapons but I'm almost certain that they do not perform as well as their stats would indicate. I struggle to get k/d ratio of my Spencer and Colt armed skirmishers to the same level that I consistently achieve even with my less experienced Sharps Model 1855 armed dismounted dragoons without too much effort.
My three star unit with 2000 men had a kill/death ration of about 2,500 to 73. Like the other poster said, I was using the unit in the flank because it's not only a three star unit, but the repeaters are best when used against the flank and the rear of the enemy.
Hmph, is that so? I had no clue. I know the range on the Spencer is 300 yards (I'm assuming "yards" here rather than meters). Interesting!
