WHEN DO WOUNDED OFFICERS RETURN TO DUTY?
Playing US campaign, BrigGen - After 1st Bull Run, I had 9 in Academy and 2 wounded. Following the Crossroads, 0 Academy, 2 wounded. After Shiloh, 0 Academy, 9 wounded. After Secure River, 0 Academy, 11 wounded. Just finished Rendezvous, again, 0 Academy, 11 wounded. I thought the US had superior medical services - for the time. What's going on?

In the CSA campaign I played (Colonel, pre .77), I had officers coming out of the woodwork. I'm sitting on 7000+ troops and a couple hundred grand and I can't generate new formations. Is this a thing? A bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

How long does it take for these guys to recover? Are they skulkers and coffee-boilers? I also have 2 or 3 points in Medicine. Does that help restore wounded officers or only troops?

Wounded officers return at the end of each military campaign. (After each major battle)

Well, I'm not un-calm and intend to play on. That said, I have 7 Pines and Gaines' Mill ahead of me, one leaderless brigade (so far) and no officer replacements. Am I to believe I'll receive no officers until AFTER Gaines' Mill? That could leave a mark...

Getting quality officers for the Union is always tough up until Fredericksburg. After each major battle, the wounded guys from the previous campaign battles will come back. So after Shiloh, the 2 wounded officers you have should have been available. And after Gaines' Mill all of the wounded officers should come back, but you will probably have a new batch of guys wounded at Gaines' Mill.

You can counter this problem by shifting officers around, always hiring officers at the end of every major battle, and using reputation to acquire generals. Also, if the Academy is empty, a new infantry brigade will spawn a Major, a new Division will spawn a Colonel, and a new Corps will spawn a Brig. General.

Medicine does nothing in terms of wounded officers recovering. Same rules apply for USA and CSA.

I should note that there are some bugs that occur when you replace officers between days of a multi-day battle. But so far I've found they only HELP the player.

Thanks, Wright29. You're all-Wright...

That's pretty good news, considering I'm waiting on a dozen or so 'malingerers' presently.

Thanks again! I didn't see any of that in the manual - or did I just miss it?
