Why so few playable Characters?

As a fan of the series I find it very frustrating that characters like Gaston, Pippen, Rickert, Aldon, and Skull Knight are all in the game but unplayable. Wth? Why and how on Gods green earth did we get freaking Wylde and Shierke as a playable characters before Skull Knight or Pippen?? Did they loose rights to the series like right after publishing the game or what.

I was hoping on PC at least we could use mods, but none exist other than a nearly outdated trainer from Mr. Antifun. I seen a video on youtube a few years ago where someone had modded the PS4 version to have Skull Knight Available, but the link to the mod has been destroyed.

There is the Skull Knight horse in the game, but no Skull Knight himself.. really wierd. It is what it is unfortunally.
