Early Access Review

I wanted to like this. The visuals are clean. Physics based TD is a really great concept.

Short Review:
If you want a neat little physics sandbox, you might enjoy this.

If you're looking for roguelike mechanics, deck building, or anything to keep different runs fresh, this game isn't fulfilling that (at the time of review).

Full Review:
Unfortunately, the actual gameplay mechanics are dreadfully boring. The 'roguelike' aspect is terribly uninspiring. There's no pressure in deck building at all, starting with a tiny deck, the ability to remove one card each round at minimal cost, and never being forced to take any card you don't want. The upgrades are straight forward with little trade off to be had. You just choose what card you want to be powerful, and then max out that tree. My maxed out cannon tower is going to be the exact same as your maxed out cannon tower. The pacing of the game seems quite slow - waves are spat out in one small gush.

My run very quickly devolved into "spam maxed out cannons and tesla, clicking "go again" for each wave that spews out a few robots. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. It just wasn't interactive, and I didn't feel smart for figuring out something cool or anything. It was just the game playing itself.

Early Access Review

There seems to be a misconception that this is trying to be a serious roguelike deck builder. It's really not. It's a physics building game that happens to have casual versions of those features.

The campaign does not try to force failure or an improvement loop. It moves you forward to collect more towers. This is where the game's soul actually is. It begins as a silly game about explosions, and slowly turns into a game about optimized engineering.

The chaotic nature of physics makes control essential. The puzzle game type is very similar to Poly Bridge. Build, observe, optimize, rebuild. This will be fun with the level builder.

Early Access Review

Graphics look amazing but that's about all this game has going for it. Gameplay is very slow and boring. The tutorial is short and does not explain combos. Ended up only using one type of defence because it was the only one that would work to knock them off. Also with bigger maps the enemies would get stuck not on the path and you would painfully have to move them off one by one.

Where is the demo???

what is the point of a limited time demo if people don't find this games until some video blows up, and at the time we find the game there's no demo??? domes should be permanen , it should have a demo even when the game comes out, so people can try out the game. a game with a demo has a higher chance to convert to a sale if the gameplay is good than just not having anything. also if you had a demo , keep that demo up, unless the game provides up to nothing else more than the demo has....

Hi! I can't launch Tower Lab because Windows Code Integrity blocks `GameAssembly.dll`. Windows Event ID: 3077 Policy: `VerifiedAndReputableDesktop` Requested Signing Level: 2 File: `...\Steam\steamapps\common\Tower Lab\GameAssembly.dll` Steam's “Verify integrity of game files” completed successfully, but the game still gives “Failed to load IL2CPP”. The deckbuilder aspect feels extremely shoehorned in

This game really doesn't need the roguelike deckbuilding part of the game, I'd argue it does nothing but subtract from the experience. Any of the cards that aren't a tower basically just shuffle around a few resources (health, money, energy, shield), or cause you to draw or discard cards. None of the non-tower cards have any meaningful consequence on the actual tower defense gameplay, and only serve to pad out your deck, and distract from the usual choices that make tower defenses interesting.
