So you will see lag in the video before producing. however if you mean the program itself, I only lag with 4+ hours of video in the editor. And my specs aren't even close to yours.
Disable the SLI and check the setting for the intel chip. Use hardware rendering (video card only)not the Intel tweak setting unless you have a brand new i7 like me which has a 4k rendering code built in.

Try this, it should solve the issue:

you should be able to run it no problem. SLI may be the problem i have never SLI'd before don't know much about it other than not all software supports it and according to "Paul's Hardware" single GPU performance is the way to go until technology advances

I know this is an old discussion but I have the same problems on a mid-range PC.

The only way I'm able to fix the sluggish editing is if I render the whole damn thing first as a .mp4 and edit that, so the problem may lie with the software itself.

When I use OBS to record (.mkv files) I can edit the videos without any problems in PD 15.

When I use Dxtory (.avi files), the editor is painfully sluggish and crash-happy as hell.

I guess you might want to look into some different software-- why use an editor that can't handle certain video codecs?

Specs:
Board: MSI 760GMA-P34(fx)
CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz
RAM: DDR3 8gb
GPU: Radeon RX 460 2gb
Storage: 1TB HDD (half full)

Now that I write these down I can see my PC isn't all that powerful or up-to-date, but hey, your computer IS powerful and you have the same problems as me for some reason, so I'm safe to assume it is the fault of PD 15.
