The mistletoe/holly berries are poison.

It's not clear about anything in that game. How Barbara died? What's wrong with that family? None of these questions have answers. What a waste.

Barbara's death is meant to be a mystery, that's why they added that horror aspect to it. Did her boyfriend kill her like the police believe, or was it the infamous Hookman who could be straight out of a movie? The point of this game is to make you think.

And what about Walter? Why did he hide? What was the shakings and the monster?

I believe it was the fear of the family curse... however still can't figure out why the shakes and how he died.

Walter was hiding because he had seen Barbara killed when he was just a kid, The shaking and monster was a train, He was hit by that train.

Molly death - Eating the Poison berry
Barbara death - Mystery?
Calvin death - Swing over cliff
Sam death - Killed by deer
Gregory death - Drown in bathtub
Walter death - Hit by train?

Only mystery are Barbara & Milton's death. Or perhaps Walter's death, hit by train? srs?

Ok, Molly's story it's more clear now, but why her mom left her without dinner and locked her room? For a child's punishment it seems way overboard, this is straight up torture.
And why there's a 2005 calendar in Walter's bunker? Doesn't sit well with "total isolation".
Also, Milton's story is an easter egg from their another game, there's no deeper meaning to it. Even the melody from Swan can be heard in his room.

Sending a child to bed without supper with a common punishment in previous eras.

Molly died by eating poisoinous berries.
I'm inclined to believe Barbara was assaulted by the gang mentioned in the TV, kidnapped, abused and murdered, her boyfriend couldn't have done it (not alone at least) since he was just 1 man with his foot broken.
The one I like best is Lewis, his story was absolutely fantastic to watch and play along, remarkable work of art.
