That said, the game is extremely short and pretty slow moving, which alleviates the problems slightly, still got a headache and slight sickness.
There's no reason not to have the FOV option, every 3D game needs it.
What the heck are you talking about? I've never even heard of a FOV option, and I've never missed it.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's like developers are doing it on purpose.
The steam review system needs a bit of a help. I've currently got a review on precisely this matter with 249 votes of people finding the review helpful. But it is burried below tons of other review's with far lesser positive activity.
Yes, the review is negative but you can filter out for the most helpful negative, which in this case. Does not work. Shame that's the case, could have saved people their money.
I like to explore every nook and cranny ideally in a single playthrough, but the lack of manual saves or at least multiple save slots with periodic autosaves makes the experience more frustrating.
For example in my current playthrough, I had decided to check out the garage first when I initially got up to the house, without knowing that was the only way in . As a result, I missed trying out the front door, or looking through hole in the fence. Had to start a completely new game just to do so.
I have a feeling that all these problems: sluggish mouselook, lack of save slots or manual saves, inability to adjust fov, lack of official ultrawide resolution support, are all because this game (among many others nowadays) are being designed first and foremost for consoles then ported over to PC.
It's a real shame when a game from 1998 like Thief The Dark Project has much better handling and more features than a game from nearly two decades later.
I love this game and its story and atmosphere, but at the same time I agree with everything you said. And we could all love the atmosphere and story even more if this game was strong technically, too.
(To top it off: Devs are now deleting threads where this is brought up and the fact that they cant even code a save system.)
Do not buy Valley.
Now for this game to have a larger FOV will ruin the experience of the game, where, on purpose, you are only given a set field of view.
I cannot play as it causes me nausea, so I requested a refund. I bought this in a bundle with Gorogoa which I already finished. Sadly, if the refund goes through I suspect Jason Roberts, the Gorogoa developer, won't be paid.
