Hate L.A noire, is this game more of the same?
Does mafia 2 share any similarities of L.A Noire?

Yes, similar area and timing so you better to ignore it.

You can run around and go on killing sprees in Mafia II though, I don't think you can in L.A. Noire.

Is 'L.A. Noire' more like GTA?... Since, the same creators as far as I know...

Far more varied and a better storyline. Mafia 2 is a fantastic game.

Both are Rockstar style...

On regards of the story, both are two sides of the same coin, really, you can imagine the characters from one game doing something and then the characters from another going after them, they are very much alike in that regard, one showing you the life of a mobster and the other showing that of a cop.

As far as gameplay goes, Mafia 2 is more -GTA-like, you can cause mayhem, chases, shootouts, etc etc. not as open ended as any GTA though. (Unless you buy the DLC, those are mostly free roam action)

Hm, I'll probably get 'L.A. Noire' for a lower price at some point. One thing I remembered being impressed by was the motion-capture and the textures or something. At least the realism in the faces and movements was jaw-dropping (for a game) when they presented the game for the first time. I hope they'll use that in "GTAV", cause Rockstar is great when it comes to characters and scenes. Then again, I hope they improve the gameplay a LOT, cause the gameplay of "GTAIV" is pretty mediocre. Perhaps 'L.A. Noire' shows some improvement in that regard already?

Not by much, driving still feels like a joke, cars have no weight to them, you can only pull out your gun when the game gives you permission, walking and running is still about the same.

L.A Noire may have been developed by a different studio, but it does feel like a GTA IV cousin in regards to gameplay.

in LA noire your a cop, in this your the opposite. Different city, more action, better driving. I liked LA Noire but i knew what i was buying.

I also played LA Noire on launch date and I was pretty disappointed by the lack of GTA style that I figured Rockstar would put into the game. The story in LA Noire was pretty boring and the best moments are interrogating someone and trying to get info out of them or trying to read the facial expressions. Overall, I would say Mafia2 has a more fleshed out story with a ton of important characters and interesting gameplay. I'm 10 hours into Mafia 2 and I'm on Chapter 11 and I am very excited to see how this story ends. I'm also kinda bummed I didn't get the dlc when it was on sale as I could see it being a lot of fun after the main story is over.
