Mafia 2 Classic won't start on Steam Deck

If you can't launch Mafia 2 Classic on Steam Deck, the "updating executable" never finishes, here's what you have to do:

1. Don't try to launch the game, it won't run, no matter which compatibility mode you will try
2. Go to "properties" instead
3. Find tab "DLC"
4. Disable all DLCs (don't worry, you will be able to enable them again once you made the game run)
5. Once you disabled all DLCs, go back and launch the game.
6. It will go through "updating executable", then it will show you EULA
7. Simply press B when EULA is displayed
8. Steam Deck will return to Mafia 2 launch screen, then it will go through all the "installing directx" and "physix", after which the game will finally launch!
9. Go through initial brightness screen, go to main menu and EXIT the game
10. Go back to DLC tab in "properties" and re-enable all DLCs
11. Deck will re-download all DLCs (1.8gb) and you will be able to launch the game with no further trouble!

I just tried running Mafia 2, started new game, the initial cutscene launched, the game runs!
It runs flawless 90fps on OLED. Cutscenes are in 30fps btw.

i didnt have to do anything on Steam Deck, just pressed play and everything is good. Seems like they fixed it 🙏
