If I leave my car somewhere, will it reappear in my garage?

There are some occasions where I'll do a mission and park my car somewhere that is a bit tough to get to, i.e. robbing store when mick shows up, having to run from the cops, parking on the left side of the building (where all the cops are), rather than the right.
Each time I've left my car miles away from my current position, I've ran back and hunted it down, rather than going to my garage, hoping it would magically be there, like in gta.

I've got some really nice cars that I don't want to lose (mainly because they would be impossible to find), so I don't want to try it out on my own.

If the car was previously stored at the garage, it will always appear in the garage if you leave it somewhere else.
