Mafia 2 CRASHES and BLACK SHADES / SHADOWS GLITCHES
Hey, i currently have the problem with random crashes and most of the time i get black shadow glitches on the whole map ( if needed i can send you a video of it ) which most of the time make the game crash... I've tried plenty of things : Repairing PhysX, uninstalling it, downloading the newest version. an older version of 2014, played on low settings, played with and without ingame physX but nothing worked i really need help, thanks..

I've been having the same problem. I'm going to try to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (I'm on Windows 10 64-bit) and update this if it works.

That seems to have done the trick for me. I'm running the game on max graphics without any issues now. Find the executable file in your steam folder (Steam>steamapps>common>Mafia II>pc>mafia2.exe), right click on it, click properties, go to the compatibility tab, and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose Windows 7 from the drop-down menu. Click "Apply" and then try running your game again through steam. Let me know if this doesn't work for you

Also, if the sky is glitching out (like mine was) try this http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mafia_II#Screen_flickering_ATI.2FAMD

Wish i had your luck. Setting it to Windows 7 compatibility stops the game from even starting for me. It just says running, then changes to syncing and stops.

I had always a program running named PlaysTV which recorded my gameplay but yesterday i stopped it in the task manager because it causes also some problems in skyrim and it worked for me no problems, no glitching or anything. Hoping this lasts forever haha

Playing fine on W10 here.
I have same issue, we will see if compatibility mode will help.
On win10, i enabled windows 10 compability and run as administrator.
It worked !

Cliping programs like Medal is causing this issues
